FRSC Backs MTN Half Marathon Assures on safety of runners The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has thrown its weight behind this year's MTN Lagos International Half Marathon scheduled to hold on November 20. Disclosing this to the organisers of the event during a closed door meeting at the headquarters of the Lagos Sector Command at the weekend, Abayomi Omiyale, the sector commander, assured the organisers that the FRSC would do all within its power to ensure a hitch-free marathon. Omiyale said the FRSC was happy to collaborate with a socially responsible corporate body like the MTN on the marathon project. "We know that the MTN has been doing quite intimidating things even if you people are been modest by claiming you are ordinary people. Like I always say, you are ordinary people doing extra-ordinary things," he said. He added that it is the responsibility of the commission to reciprocate agencies and bodies that show responsibilities to their host communities. "MTN since its inception has left no one in doubt that it is a socially responsible corporate organisation" However, he stated the need to assist the sector with communication gadgets to ease its operations during the event. Responding, Umaru Abass, the general manager of the MTN Marathon, thanked the sector commander for the warm welcome extended to the organisers of the event. He recalled earlier promises made by the representatives of the commission at the security committee meetings of the event held so far.
