Broad Bank Bags Excellence Award
Broad Bank of Nigeria Limited has bagged the "2004 Excellence Award" of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The award based on recognition for hardwork and immeasurable contributions to the growth of our nation, was presented to the Bank by the Association of the Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (ASCSNMCT).
Speaking at the 2004 seminar/award presentation of the ASCSNMCT, the chairman of the association, Comrade Ben-Ugo Anamah said the award was aimed towards rewarding entrepreneurship, encouraging productivity, promoting self-reliance and utilizing our human and material resources optimally as a great asset for nation building and national integration.
"The award presentation to distinguished Nigerians and organizations is aimed at rewarding entrepreneurship, encouraging productivity while discouraging corruption and non-chalant attitude to one's official duty, promoting self-reliance and utilizing our human and material resources optimally as a great asset for nation building and national integration," Anamah said.
In response, the Group Head of Broad Bank of Nigeria Limited, Abuja Region, Umar Ahmed expressed gratitude for the award and promised that the bank will not relent in its efforts at ensuring integrity and professionalism.
"Our intention is to take advantage of the strength in our business to promote a mutually beneficial relationship while adding value to our numerous customers, prospective ones and the nation", Ahmed said.
This he said has given the bank a comprative advantage in facing the ever-increasing challenges in the banking industry.
Recently the bank also received accolades from the recently released report on Nigerian banks' website published by Web-Jurist, Phillips Consulting Limited. The Bank was rated excellent in Content, which is the backbone of a website.
It would be recalled that Broad Bank in its financial year ended April 30, 2004, recorded profit before tax of N743.95 million in 2004, an increase of 351 per cent over the N165.08 million made in the previous year, while the profit after tax surged by 135 per cent to N326.6 million, compared to N139.16 million in 2003.
The growth of the bank's gross earnings leaped also by 104 per cent, as it stood at N4.25 billion, compared to N2.08 billion in 2003.
