Group Seeks Reversion to 50% Revenue Formula From Agaju Madugba in Kaduna The Middle-Belt Progressive Movement (MBPM) has asked the Federal Government to revert to the pre-civil war of 50 per cent derivation formula of revenue sharing. In a statement in Kaduna, the group also condemned the suit by the 19 Northern instituted Governors against the abrogation of the Onshore/Offshore oil Dichotomy law. The statement explained that the positions were part of the resolutions of the Board of Elders of the movement, after their meeting in Kaduna. Chairman of the Board, Alex Mshelia, from Borno State, the National Chairman, former Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Peter Dabup from Plateau State, and John Bawah, a member of the Board of Trustees from Kaduna state, jointly signed the statement. The statement described the oil dichotomy suit as unnecessary, vexatious, provocative, frivolous and insensitive. According to the group, "the Board further noted that the meeting of the South-south Consultative Assembly on August 31, in Abuja and their resolution to produce the next President of Nigeria in 2007". "The board endorsed the position of the south-south as stated, provided they reach out to other zones to work out joint modalities for actualising the objective. "The board urged the Middle-Belt governors who are being used by the so-called 19 northern governors to retrace their steps by abandoning the suit", the statement stressed.
