Assembly Decries Menace of Crime
From Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi

Bauchi State House of Assembly has condemned the frequent attacks on innocent persons and ritual killings in various parts of the State, despite renewed efforts by the police to make the state crime-free.

Speaking under matters of public importance, a member of the House, Hon. Isa Tilde said there was an armed robbery incident where a man was killed in constituency.

Following this, the House observed that during the last two weeks, reports from different parts of the local government areas indicated that nefarious activities by criminals were on the increase in the state.

As the lawmakers took turns to narrate how the activities of armed robbers and ritualists have impacted negatively in their various constituencies, the Speaker of the House, Hon. Tnako Jalam called on the people to indulge in prayers for divine intervention.

The Speaker, who said the House could no longer fold its arms and watch while the state is placed under siege by criminals, directed the House committee on security and that of judiciary to meet the commissioner of police with a view to finding lasting solutions to the menace.

Meanwhile, the state police command has arrested a group of armed bandits that have been terrorizing Azare and the neighbouring towns, as part of effort to eradicate crime in the state.

The commissioner said the prepetrator of the act was a Secondary School Student in JSS 2 named Shehu Judi of Inkil village, who asked the three other suspects to produce human kidney for a large sum of money.

Abbas said although Musa Ahmed was arrested immediately the incident occured, he however, claimed that it was Awwal Abdulhamid that committed the crime.
