APGA Candidate Teams Up with Uba It's not True-Obi From Charles Onyekamuo in Awka All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) Gubernatorial Candidate in the April 2003 Governorship elections in Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, has struck a new relationship with Chief Chris Uba, the self-styled godfather of politics, in an effort to unseat Governor Chris Ngige. In agreeing to work with Uba, Obi also_pledged to "do all that Governor Ngige refused to do to for Uba, a pre-condition for Uba's support for his ascendancy to the office of Governor of Anambra State. This was a fallout of series of meetings between Chief Uba and Mr. Obi during and after the just-concluded 10th World Igbo Congress (WIC) Convention held in Newark, New Jersey, United States of America (USA). Obi was said to have made firm commitments to the Uba group after the latter told a makeshift gathering of Anambra people in Sheraton Hotel, Newark, that it was APGA that won the gubernatorial elections of 2003 in Anambra State. Meanwhile the Peter Obi campaign organisation has denied allegations being aired on the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) for about four days running that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate in the April 19, 2003 governorship election in the state, Mr. Peter Obi struck a deal with Ngige's estranged political godfather, Chief Chris Uba to unseat Ngige from office describing it as cheap blackmail, false, frivolous and mischievous to the extreme. In a press statement titled: "Peter Obi Has No Pact With Eselu" dated September 15, and signed by Chief S. Nwobu Alor, the organisation's chairman, described the allegation as a tendentious fabrication calculated to defend rercent ugly revelations from the PDP camp in the state on how they falsified the gubernatorial election results that brought them to power.
