2007: Group Canvasses Support for Marwa From Agagu Madugba in Kaduna Representatives of various youth and women organisations in the North held a mass rally in kaduna at the weekend and asked Nigerians to support former military administrator of Lagos State, Brigadier-Gen.Buba Marwa (rtd), for the presidency in 2007. Tagged, "Search for an ideal leader for Nigeria come 2007," the rally, held at the Murtala square involved about 500 different groups. Addressing the rally, Chairman of the United Youth Empowerment Organisation (UYEO), Malam Rabo Abdullahi said that their decision to adopt Marwa was based on "his meritorious performance as the military administrator of Lagos state." According to Abdullahi, "Marwa has endeared himself to the less privileged and pauparised masses, through his philantrophy". He regretted that a number of leaders from the north who had ruled the nation in the past wasted the opportunity to improve the well being of northerners. "They misruled the nation.
