Aide Alleges Plot to Smear Oyofo From Kola Ologbondiyan in Abuja Special Assistant to Senator Victor Kashim Oyofo, Mr. Sule Ahmed, at the weekend alleged that certain unnamed persons are plotting to smear the character of the former Senate Chief Whip using national newspapers. Ahmed, who disclosed that those behind the act are residents in Benin, Edo State, urged for restraint, noting that "at this time, what the people need is unity, peace and stability. We do not need to perpetrate acts that may destabilise the constituency." According to him, "Oyofo would never be distracted. He would remain focused," adding that "even if the faceless campaigners publish one hundred articles, he would not be disturbed. "I urge those plotting this attacks to desist from it. If anything libelous is found, the law would take its course because Senator Oyofo would continue to work in public interest and pursue goals that will benefit the entire nation." Ahmed, who emphasised that his boss is presently pre-occupied with the provision of federal amenities and employment for his constituents, added that "2007 is still very far and Senator Oyofo is not interested in any governorship position neither is he against anyone seeking to be a vice-president."
