ASCON Boss Hails Traditional Institution

Director-General of the Administration Staff Col-lege (ASCON), Professor Sheikh Abdallah, said traditional institution remain the nation socio-economic and political stabilising factors.
Speaking at the first Umar Sanda Ndayako Memorial Lecture, in honour of the late Etsu Nupe, Abdallah said the institution played a vital role in the actualisation of the nations' democracy.
He noted that the institution over the years has confirmed to be a veritable instrument for the sustenance of the democratic principles and practice.
The don in his 13 page paper titled "Enhancing the performance of educational institution through manpower and community development" stated that the relative peace in the country can be significantly attributed to the royal fathers as typified by the various and regular appeals and cells for peace.
Describing the values and practices of traditional institutions as extremely functional professor Abdallah posited that the institution has a lot to offer to the on-going democratization of the country.
Eulogizing the late Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Umar Sanda Ndayako, the ASCON boss noted that the late monarch exhibited high leadership qualities, which distinguished him from his contemporaries.
He said the late monarch who joined his ancestors last year adopted the modern concepts in managing the affairs of his kingdom, while his reign lasted.
Abdallah maintained that the 28 year reign of the late Etsu witnessed tremendous socio-economic growth, with many schools from primary to tertiary flourishing throughout the emirate.
He concluded that those coming after him have huge task of sustaining his achievement and improve on them, stating, "he (Etsu Ndayako) represented the collective desire of the Nupe for progressive change, yet not at the expense of the culture and tradition."
In his goodwill message to the lecture, Niger State Governor Abdullahi Kure acknowledged the positive contributions of the late monarchy to the development of the state and the country.
Represented by his commissioner for information, Alhaji Umar Ragada, the governor noted that the late Etsu served his country until the point of death, adding that the nation will never forget the selfless services he rendered.
