Disturbance: Police Nab Seven Hunters Kwara From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin Police in Kwara State are now interrogating seven village hunters for disturbing some neighbours. Police Commissioner in the state, Muhammadu Dikko Abubakar, who made the disclosure to newsmen in Ilorin said the hunters were arrested following a tip off. According to him, the local hunter from Falokun Ile village in Ifelodun Local Government area were terrorising citizens of a Falokun Fulani camp. "On receipt of the complaint, detectives from the command monitoring unit swing into action immediately and arrested the suspects." The police chief hinted that four locally made single barre guns, eight dane guns, nine live cartridges used in committing alleged atrocities were recovered from them. Fielding questions from newsmen, Abubakar noted that the arrest and activities of the suspects should not be used to discourage Community Vigilance Groups which he noted have beneficial impact to their local communities. He however advised such groups to come to the state command for formal registration. Such formal registration, the police boss said, should not be seen as liberty to carry ammunitions. "They have to come to register with us to formalise their activities but that does not mean that they can carry or use arms any one caught with dangerous weapons would not only be arrested and prosecuted." In a similar development, the police boss disclosed the arrest of three suspects believed to be part of an armed robbery gang terrorising commuters on Kaiama/Kishi road. Abubakar said the three suspects were intercepted on an unregistered Jincheng motorcycle while a search on them revealed a locally made pistol and 10 live cartridges concealed in a polythene bag.
