Union Bank Honours Golden Customers Lagos Union Bank of Nigeria Plc has hosted its golden customers across the country to a luncheon for their loyalty and steadfastness since the past 50 years or more. The event, which took place at the Golden Gate Restaurant, Ikoyi, Lagos, also provided the bank an opportunity to celebrate its outstanding performance for the last financial year and The Banker award it won recently. Welcoming the guests, the Bank's Group Managing Director/Chief Executive, Dr. Godwin Oboh extolled the customers for the trust and confidence reposed in the bank, saying without their patronage and support the bank would not attain an enviable height in the industry. He urged them to sustain their loyalty with the bank and assured that the management would continued to acknowledge them and ensure they reaped the benefits of their patronage. Oboh expressed appreciation to the bank's shareholders, particularly the leadership of the various groups, for helping the bank to improve every year through constructive criticisms and wise counsel. He stressed that the would take its rightful position in the light of the consolidation in the banking industry, adding that the bank's vision was to be able to compete favourably in the world. He also noted that the Bank of the year award won recently was very significant because the bank had won it four times since it was instituted in 1999 by The Banker magazine, an influential sister-publication of the Financial Times of London. In his remarks, the Bank's Chairman, Professor Musa Gella Yakubu, assured that the Board would continue to fashion out policies that would not only enhance customer service and good returns on shareholders' investments but also, ensure that Union Bank remained Nigerian's number one bank.
