Flood Kills 8 Gombe From Saka Ibrahim in Gombe No fewer than eight people were feared dead in a recent flood at Tula Chiefdom in Kaltungo Local Govern-ment Area of Gombe State. The Moi of Tula, Dr. Koki Buba, disclosed this when the State Government Flood Sub-Committee led by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Housing, Alhaji Suleiman Abubakar visited his palace. The Traditional Ruler commended the state government for setting up the Flood Committee in order to assist the Flood Victims. According to Buba, the visit to ascertain the extent of democrats had demonstrated the love the government has for the people of the State. Said the traditional ruler "The recent flood disaster that happened also claimed eight lives in Tula Chiefdom. We are happy with the steps taken by government so far." Buba reiterated that the people of the State are now feeling the impact of government. Chairman of the committee, Alahji Abubakar earlier told the transitional ruler that they were in the area to assess the extent of damages caused by the flood and solicited cooperation of the royal father. The Committee also visited the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster. It would be recalled that 17 people died in Gombe metropolis during the recent flood and property worth several millions were destroyed. About 1,500 houses were affected while 484 families were displaced according to the report of the Flood Committee.
