The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Tafa Balogun, the former Chief Economic Adviser, Dr Magnus Kpakol and 18 others are alleged to have defaulted in the declaration of their assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau.
Already, the bureau has forwarded the list of the defaulters for trial to the Code of Conduct Tribunal headed by Justice Bashir Sambo.
The chairman, House Committee on Ethics and Pri-vileges, Dr Bello Mohammed Mutawalle, announced that the committee will summon the IGP, Kpakol and the 18 others.
He also stated that the committee will summon former Plateau State governor, Chief Joshua Dariye, in connection with his assets declaration and the reported money laundering of about 80,000 pounds in Central London.
Other eminent Nigerians slated for trial over failure to declare assets include, Senior Special Assistant to the President and National Coordinator of HIV/AIDS, Professor Ibironke Akinsete and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Space Science and Technology, Dr Adigun Ade Abiodun.
Others are, the director general of the National Centre for Women Development, Dr Stella Odogwu, former director general of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier-General K. O. Ogunkoya (rtd), the managing director and two executive directors of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance, Alhaji Ogunleye Ganiyu, Professor Umoh Peter Nyong and Mrs Ibrahim Fatima Balaraba respectively.
Also on the list are, former director general of the National Foods and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Professor Gabriel Osuide, a permanent secretary in the office of the vice president, Ibrahim Talba and permanent secretary in the Federal Ministry of Environment, Engineer D. B. Usman.
Also to be tried are, Ambassador T. D. Hart, a perm-anent secretary in the Foreign Affairs Ministry, along with NICON chairman, Chief Samuel Nwokedi.
Others are, veteran journalist and former presidential spokesmanm Mr Tunji Oseni, former Political Adviser to the President, Dr Chukuemeka Ezeife, Deputy Inspector-general of Police, Mr Mike Okiro and chairman of Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Engineer Hamman Tukur.
Chairman, House Committee on Ethics and Privileges, Dr Bello Mohammed said his committee has to summon these Nigerians because “the Code of Conduct Tribunal has either failed or refu-sed to bring them to book forcing my committee to act fast.”
