Bishop Oyedepo clocks 50

Oyedepo, clocks 50 today.
Activities lined up for the Golden Jubilee
started last Thursday with a lecture on "Afro-Pessimism, Leadership Crisis and
Africa’s Wilderness Years: What Hope for the 21st Century? Delivered by the
chairman, Platinum Bank, Dr. Pat Utomi at Covenant University, Canaanland Ota,
Ogun State.
The testimony night was held the same day
with Pastor Ted Haggard of New Life Bible Church, Colorado Springs, Colorado,
United States of America (USA) while ministers of God from Canada, Indonesia and
Australia preached yesterday at Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland.
The special Golden Jubilee service holds
today (Monday) at the church premises where the General Overseer of The Redeemed
Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye will minister.
Born on September 27, 1954, Dr. Oyedepo
who is also the chancellor of Covenant University, Ota, is the presiding Bishop
of the Winners Family Worldwide.
In his testimony Bishop Oyedepo said that
he met Jesus Christ on February 19, 1969, adding "and in all my life, that day
to me is number one".
"That February 1969 was the greatest day
of my life because that was when grace found me and that was where I met grace
and that is where the journey began for my own case.
"I was physically born on 27th of
September 1954 but I became born again February 1969. And that was 35 years ago.
And having met the Lord, I had an insatiable appetite for the Gospel", Oyedepo
said.
In his brief remarks at last Friday’s
lecture, Bishop Oyedepo said; "A change is inevitable and it has to begin in the
man and the woman. We must embrace new perspectives. There is a need to embark
on a reformation crusade to provoke the up-coming generation to see the need for
change".
Apart from setting up one of the biggest private
universities in the country, Oyedepo built the church reputed to be the largest
sitting worship auditorium in the world, the 50,000 - seater Faith Tabernacle,
authored over 50 books and built hospitals and schools.
