Lagos Committed to Infrastructure Provision
By Shaka Momodu

Lagos State government has re-emphasised its commitment to the provision of an enduring road network as well as other infrastructural facilities in government housing estates and the state in general.

The state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Rauf Aregbesola, stated this commitment while inspecting some recently rehabilitated road projects in some local government areas in the state.

The tour, which was packaged to showcase to journalists the continuos efforts of the state government to continually maintain and rehabilitate road network, particularly during the raining season, was to debunk the public misconception that the Lagos State government has slowed down on its pace of work programme.

Aregbesola disclosed that experience of past administration has shown that very little rehabilitation works could hardly be done during raining season, but now with the innovative skills of the state ministry's engineers, the state has been maintaining roads and sealing up potholes with stabilised crushed stone mixed with cement or asphaltic concrete.

The extensive inspection project tour took the team to Mushim Agboyi, Agege, Bariga, Kosofe, Ikeja and Surulere Local Government areas.

The all-year road maintenance and rehabilitation team visited different rehabilitated roads like Ajelogo road, Babington street and Davies Street in Ketu-Agboyi, Akin Doherty street, Oshitelu steet, Otubu and Abeokuta streets in Agege, Ayodele street, Baptist Church street and Jagunmolu street in Bariga.

Other rehabilitated roads include Abeokuta, Asabi Cole, Anifowose, Shobo Arobiodu and Oba Akinjobi streets all in Ikeja.

The team inspected rehabilitated Arowojobe, Ayorinde/Raji Abayomi, Adebayo Mokuolu, Bush/Faronbi/Ajike and Ajoke/Salamiin Kosofe streets.
