Communities Urged to Complement Govt's Devt Efforts
Adamawa
From Abel Orih Idoma in Yola
Parents and communities in Adamawa State have been charged to complement government's effort in the provision and maintenance of school infrastructure as well as supervision and monitoring of teachers and students.
The Adamawa State Governor, Boni Haruna, gave the charge while commissioning and distributing instructional materials procured by the State Primary Education Board (SPEB). He explained that these responsibilities should not be left for government alone in view of the ever increasing number of school age children and other competing responsibilities on government.
Boni, who commended the board, described the gesture as a step in the right direction and urged education secretaries, supervisors and teachers to reciprocate by ensuring proper use of the materials.
The governor said no amount of commitment and contributions towards improving educational standard can be considered too great and assured that government would continue to encourage and support all those who demonstrate commitment towards the realisation of this objective.
He maintained that relatively enlightened society would not wage religious or ethnic war as well as engage in social crisis that can transform into violence leading to loss of lives and property.
Boni then commended Vice President Atiku Abubakar for building and donating classroom blocks worth over N60 million in the state to complement the state government's effort in the sector over the last five years and urged other privileged citizens to emulate the gesture.
In a similar development, the establishment of the Adamawa State University, Mubi, has been described as a wise decision that would benefit generations of Adamawa indigenes.
Similarly, the provision of basic social amenities in Mubi, some, which have been lacking for the past 40 years, has been described as highly commendable on the part of the Boni administration.
