82 Division Gets New GOC Enugu From Emmanuel Ugwu in Enugu A new General Officer Commanding (GOC) has taken over command of the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu. He is Major General Abdulhafeez Adewuyi. He received the baton from General Rafiu Adeshina, who has been posted to the Defence Headquarters, Abuja. In a statement signed by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Col. A. C. Olukolade, the change took effect from September 8. In his remarks at the handing over formalities, the outgoing GOC said the division has been able "to maintain its legacy as an outstanding formation of the Army" and commended all the officers and soldiers for their contributions in uplifting the division. Adeshina urged them to extend the same level of co-operation he enjoyed to the new GOC. The new GOC, Adewuyi, in his response, lauded his predecessor for his efforts while commanding the division and wished him success in his new appointment. Prior to his appointment the new GOC was a director at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja. He has also served as instructor and directing staff in various military institutions, including the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) where was a commander of the Cadets Brigade.
