Ekeji Commends Nigerian Breweries By Femi Solaja The Director of Sports Development in Ministry of Sports Chief Patrick Ekeji, has commended the resilience and endurance of Nigerian Breweries Plc towards promotion and development of sports in the Country. Chief Ekeji told THISDAYSports that the company has done a lot towards making the youths of this country leaders of tomorrow. He commended the Maltina brand for making a u-turn in the continued sponsorship of the Cycling Tour of Nigeria in spite of all the controversies that trailed the last edition which most of the board members of the dissolved Cycling Federation of Nigeria (CFN) were indicted for financial misappropriation. "Honestly Nigerian Breweries have done a lot to develop our youths physically and mentally to be worthy leaders of tomorrow .The Sports Ministry has noted that the company has been consistent in this regard."They are into sponsorship of virtually all were sports and it will be a good development if other big companies can take a cue from what the Nigerian Breweries has done to sports in the last 30 years. "Despite all the problems we had with the organisation of the last event one would have thought its all over with cycling sponsorship instead, they came out stronger than that of last year in the area of finance. "Maltina brand has consistently sponsored cycling for 25 years and we were able to reap the reward of this gesture at the last All Africa Games in Abuja, when Nigeria won her first ever gold medal in the history of the games."
