Court Never Stopped NRA Elections - Galadima From Juliana Taiwo in Abuja The Chairman of the Board of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima has said the courts never stopped the election of the Nigeria Referees Associations (NRA) hence the election is not illegal. Fielding questions from newsmen at the weekend, Galadima said he was not aware of any letter from the NFA disassociating itself from the elections from the beginning. "The NFA is an octupus so I do not know anything about any letter," he said. The NFA had on August 30 issued a press release that it would not attend the NRA elections, which held on September 4 at the National Theatre in Lagos. The Secretary General of the NFA, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi it was said would not be present at the elections. Media reports had it that he would be there as an 'observer'. THISDAYSports had gathered that Ogunjobi was mindful of the fact that the election has become a subject of litigation and knew the implication of his being part of the whole arrangement. A source at the NFA said the NRA was issued a court order restraining it from conducting the election, which should it go ahead to conduct, would amount to contempt of court. It would be recalled that the National Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Enugu State Chairman of Nigeria (Football) Referees Association (NRA) and a NRA presidential aspirant, Barrister Raymond Nnaji had taken the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), NRA President, Col. Joro Dogo Yabilsu, the NRA and the Minister of Sports and Social Development, Col Musa Mohammed (rtd) to court.
