DHL Africa Sports Hour on SuperSport
A new season of the DHL AFRICA SPORTS HOUR has begun on SuperSport channel, the continental sport broadcaster on DStv with more stories dedicated to the exciting and developing world of African sport. This month the program, which is created by former SuperSport & CNN anchor Graeme Joffe, will feature inserts from Botswana, Burundi and Johannesburg.
Starting in Gaborone, sport lovers will join the DHL AFRICA SPORTS HOUR as it spotlights athletics in Botswana with a special focus on the men's 4 x 100m runners who were the surprise package at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. Look out for interviews with Seits Matlala (BNSC Botswana), Bobby Gaseitsiwe (athletics coach), Gaolesiela Salang (Athlete) and Johnson Kubisa (Athlete).
Then the DHL AFRICA SPORTS HOUR takes a closer look at tennis in Burundi and gets three very different perspectives on the game when it speaks with J.Bosco Uwimana (coach), Caroline Hitimana (top junior player) and Livingstone Sindayigaya (a tennis fan).
If you've ever had any hoop dreams, then don't miss the insert on the NBA 100 CAMP, which was held recently in Johannesburg. A fantastic tour in which 100 basketball players from 25 different African countries attend a weeklong training camp alongside NBA stars and coaches, it's the experience of the lifetime for everyone!
Look out for Ruben Boumtje Boumtje from Cameroon who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dikembe Mutombo from the DRC who plays for the Houston Rockets and Amadou Gallo Fall from Senegal who is a scout for the Dallas Mavericks. Also tune in for more action as Alex English, the coach for the Toronto Raptors, shares his basketball beliefs!
Also this month, the DHL AFRICA SPORTS HOUR gets a rare look at the sport of polo and discovers how one 15-year-old has gone from grooming horses to becoming one of South Africa's top junior players.
And ending this month's program, follow the heartwarming story of the Reach for the Dream project in Botswana where a recent charity golf day will fund the dreams of children with life-threatening illness.
DStv audiences can tune for the September edition of the DHL AFRICA SPORTS HOUR on SuperSport 5 on September 30 at 18:00 CAT. The program will be re-screened on October 1, 2, 7 and 14.
