BAT Appoints New Marketing Director

The British American Tobacco (BAT) has appointed Mrs. Beverly Spencer-Fatoyinbo as its new marketing director as Mr. Kinsley Wheaton the outgoing marketing director has been redeployed to Russia as marketing director. Mrs. Spencer- Fatoyinbo is presently the Trade Marketing Manager for BAT in Nigeria.
Mr. Wheaton who resumed last Monday in Russia disclosed this in a chat with THISDAY recently during a send-off cocktail organised in his honour by the FK/G2, the event arm of the Biodun Sobanjo led Troika Group.
Speaking on his experience in Nigeria, Mr. Wheaton, 31 says the Nigerian marketing environment was quite challenging, warm and incredibly welcoming. According to him, � it is not easy marketing in Nigeria being a unique country. Nigerians have sense of humour and sense of forgiveness.
Relating highpoint of BAT in Nigeria, Mr. Wheaton said the proudly Nigeria campaign the most exciting as it portrayed BAT as a very socially responsible that is interested in the better Nigeria. Other challenges, according to him are was building world class cigarette brands like Rothmans, Benson & Hedges, London Kingsize and St. Moritz in Nigeria in just about four years of BAT in Nigeria. He also said that it was more challenging to recruit 200 staff for the marketing department of BAT in less than three years.
Explaining the brand platform of various BAT brands in the last three years, the immediate past marketing director said that the various brands have been positioned as products for adult through music and style.
while bading Mr Wheaton farewell, the chairman of the Troyka Group Mr. Biodun Sobanjo extolled the virtues of Mr. Kinsley Wheaton as a very thorough marketer whose tenure in BAT Nigeria has really done a lot towards positioning BAT and its various brands as enviable brands. He said the Troyka Group that has Insight/Grey, The Quadrant Company, FK/G2, Optim-um Exposure, Mediacom, and Halogen Securities really enjoyed a good working relationship.
