Finalists Emerge for Nimn's Marketing Award By Patrick Ugeh Five finalists have shortlisteded for this year's National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) award for the best marketing student in the country. The lucky finalists whose names have not been released emerged after rigorous examinations and practical marketing presentations by students from 29 tertiary institutions. Making this known in Lagos last weekend, the chairman of the committee, Mr. Uche Aligbe, said the finalists will soon be invited for the last round of examination in order to determine the winner. He also said that some multi-national companies have indicated interest in employing the best overall winner. To get to this stage, NIMN had sent out notices to tertiary institutions offering marketing course as a major to send in nominees for the award contest. The institutions, many of which participated in the maiden edition of the award tagged National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria Award for Marketing Excellence (NAME) last year, were quick to respond. Infact, the marketing body hosted delegates from 29 institutions of learning from across the country for a three-day event that included the introduction of new marketing syllabus and tour of corporate organisations for practical and first hand marketing experience. Follwowing the conclusion of plans to evaluate all the entries so far received for the award slated for October this year, the committee has notified all the external evaluators that would be involved in the exercise. In the meantime, more corporate bodies have continued to throw their support for the marketing event through sponsorship.
