ALTHOUGH young, articulate, energetic and unassuming, Hon Ademola Michael Babalola in this interview displays a rare quality that portrays him as a politician with a different mission and school of thought. Hon Babalola is a new breed going by his age. A member of the then Social Democratic Party (SDP), he was elected councillor in 1996 to represent Gbogi/Isinkan and was the secretary of the PDP in Ondo State between 1998 and 2002 . Babalola was elected into the state House of Assembly in 2003 and became the majority leader after representing Akure South Local Government on the presidential committee on the review of the 1999 constitution. In this interview, Hon Babalola speaks on the present democratic dispensation; the withholding/diversion of council funds by governors across the states, monitoring of councils activities, assessment of the government of Dr Olusegun Agagu, assessment of the activities of the House of Assembly, vis-a-vis the allegation of being government rubber stamp.
Recently, President Olusegun Obasanjo kicked against governors diverting or withholding council funds. What is your opinion on this?
