Chairman, Senate
Committee on Rules and Business, Senator Umaru Ibrahim Tsauri, has been
commended by his constituents for the numerous self-help projects already
executed for his senatorial district.
The commendation was
made in Abuja last weekend by a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain,
Alhaji Iro Abu Saulawa, who led a delegation of PDP members on a thank-you
visit to the legislator representing Katsina Central.
Saulawa particularly
praised Tsauri for his resolute stand on creation of local governments in the
state and support of numerous communal development projects.
Saulawa said the
delegation decided on the visit to their representative because of the
achievements recorded in the senatorial district, which he listed to include
connecting eight local governments to the national grid, award of scholarships
and purchase of JAMB and BATC forms for brilliant but indigent students,
employment generation in the district and generally improving the living
standard of his constituents by creating access for youths in the state to the
National Directorate of Employment (NDE) Poverty Alleviation Programme.
The delegation praised Tsauri for “sponsoring
a bill on Farm Settlement and Youth Empowerment in the Senate, which has scaled
the second reading in the House. The bill, when passed into law, hopes to boost
the nation’s agricultural production and create market for agricultural
commodities.”
Saulawa expressed
gratitude that Tsauri helped to actualise the Jibia and Zobe dams by ensuring
that funds were allocated in the 2004 Appropriation for their completion.
“Contrary to what some people may have in mind, Tsauri has emerged as the
best senator ever produced or elected to represent Katsina State. He is indeed
the champion of youths development and progress,” said Saulawa.
Responding, Tsauri assured the delegation that the 11 local
councils in his senatorial zone would each have a project to boast of as
democracy dividend.
