WAEC Releases May/June 2004 Results By Bayo Adeleke and Ike Ifeanyi West African Examination Council (WAEC), has released the result of candidates who sat for the West African School Certificate Examinations (WASSCE), this year. The council Head of National Office, Mr. Tunde Oloyede, said this yesterday in Lagos during a press briefing, adding that out of 1,052,672 candidates that sat for the examination nationwide 1,001,289 candidates have their results fully released. He also said 51,385 candidates representing 4.88 per cent have their results partially released, while 102,315 candidates representing 9.72 per cent have their results withheld for alleged involvement in examination malpractices. Oloyede directed candidates to start checking their results as from today, while those having their results withheld should await final decision from the Nigeria Examination Committee of Council. Oloyede said in line with the council's vision for exploiting the vast potentials of information and technology fully, WAEC-on-line registration system will soon take off. According to him, the project will revolutionise the involvement of candidates for examination as the process becomes stress-free and error-free.
