Military Warns Rivers War Leaders From Okon Bassey in Port Harcourt Joint Task Force, "Operation Flush Out 3" put in place by Federal Government to maintain security in Rivers State has warned different gang leaders of cultism against further threat to lives and property. The military authority said the squad is more determined to deal severely with any body or group who constitute threat in the state. Nigerian Army Public Relations Officer, 2 Brigade, Port Harocurt, Captain Oyema Kanu, gave the warning yesterday while reacting to a threat by one of the warring leaders, Alhaji Asari Dokubo, who vowed to destroy or blow oil installations and asked oil companies to evacuate their staff. "The JTF wishes to state that since its inauguration on September 4, it has been using kid gloves in dealing with the gangsters because of past antecedents of military involvement in internal security operations and the resultant public opinions," he observed. Adding that "but with such unguarded threat from the gang leader, Asari Dokubo, the JTF is being catalysed to manifest full military colours in the creeks of Rivers State." Kanu, accordingly cautioned Dokubo and his likes to stop steering internal insurrection in the state. He advised residents in the state and expatriate oil workers to go about their usual businesses. "The JTF has instituted a 24 hour patrol in Port Harcourt and its surrounding creeks. There are also crack teams of standby troops to reach any part of the state on short notice," Kanu revealed and challenged any gang that doubts the resolve of the squad to strike first.
