IGBO SOLIDARITY WITH Dim C. ODUMEGWU-OJUKWU

We are proud to have you as the undisputed and genuine leader of Ndi Igbo. You are our leader by the grace of God. By popular acclamation, you are Eze Igbo.

Because you are the rallying point of Igbo aspirations and Igbo pride, you have our total support as you defend your own constitutional rights and the rights of MASSOB members unlawfully detained in the Nigerian Gulag. Today, across the country, especially in parts of it sometimes referred to as the "Niger-Delta," people are picking up arms to fight for the same freedoms and rights to life and liberty for which you declared the Republic of Biafra more than thirty-seven years ago.

In your current encounter with the Nigerian security outfit, the SSS, we are proud of your tenacity and insistence that the Nigerian State comply with the law and proper procedures before depriving any citizen of constitutionally protected freedoms. We believe that if those freedoms are so easily taken away from one of your standing and stature, there will be no hope for those less privileged in our society. In that sense, your stand is a sacrifice you are making for all those who may in the future become targets of a pernicious state apparatuses such as the SSS.

We applaud you for standing up for Igbo security and survival. We join your call to the Nigerian State to remove all obstacles to the convocation of a conference of nationalities, a sovereign national conference where the constituent parts of the country will decide what manner of association, if any, should bind them.
We are grateful for your leadership in fighting to stop genocide against our people from 1966 to 1970. Unfortunately, the Nigerian State is fanning another conflagration, having learned nothing from that costly war. In this new struggle, fought not with guns and bayonets, but with knowledge carefully deployed over ignorance, you will have our support. The regime in Abuja will hear from around the world if it continues to trample upon the rights of the citizens that the constitution is designed to protect.

We give you our unalloyed support in your effort to create a better future for Ndi Igbo. Your handling of the SSS harassment has served to ensure that no one in Nigeria operates with the illusion that Ndi Igbo tolerate insult against their own.
