Facts about Moslems, Mohammed and Islamic Republic of Northern Nigerian.

A bill in Biafranigeria was to be passed to protect women and children from abuse was thrown away by moslems in the North that it offended the teachings of Mohammed and the islamic culture.

This bill was crafted by Chief Ogbenyealu Williams, commissioner for Women Affiars and Youth Development, brought to the floor for debate by a female law maker named Mrs Florence Aya and champoined by Mrs Oji Kalu, wife of the Abia state governor.

Here is the bill that moslems are opposed to the teachings of Mohammed and one bold reason why Nigeria is a retard, handicapped by the satanic verses.

1. Wife battering

2. RAPE

3. MARRIAGE AT AGE 13

4. WIDOWS' RIGHT

5. THE RIGHT FOR EDUCATION

6. THE RIGHT TO CHOSE [HUSBAND]

And yet you claim that Islam is a peaceful religion. Now someone please tell me why Mohammed is not a true gospel of child rapist?

Hail Biafra

Satanic and Islamic fundamentalist burned down the office of the ThisDay Newspaper company in northern republic of Islamic Nigeria. The paper had published a remark that Mohammed would be proud of the beauties and possibly take one into mariage. On the contrary, none of the beauties would have dared marry a blood sucker like Mohammed.

Again, and I ask, who said Islam is a peaceful religion?

Fellows,
Though I have not had the time to read the said "offensive" editorial of Thisday newspaper, but from the apology said to have been written by the management of Thisday to "all moslems," it's obvious that the said article was out of taste.
In same brief, it is animanistic for those so-called moslems (no true religious person will do such evil in the name of religion) to have reacted the way they did.

Be it on this board, in our homes or anywhere else, please lets try as much as posible to show some RESPECT (not accept) other people's religious inclination; for history has shown that there can be an end to all wars except that which has religious undertones (or which some mischievious people who hide under "religion" can use to commit what we saw in Kaduna. Lets not give the Osama bin Ladens of Nigeria who used "religion" in Afghaanistan to deny ordinary Afghans televisions while he and his gang in the Taliban were brandishing the latest in Satelite telephones.

I bet you, that crazy jihadistic sadist named Mohammed was a fornicator.

The beauty queens would have laughed at him and his sick donkeys and camel. We have to fight untill we are no longer in the same country as these people.

Respect huh? I do not think Obasanjo was motivated by respect in hiding away from those pretty damsels. It was old fashioned cowardice and fear that drove the General and Yoruba field marshall into his tunnel. "Coward in the North, thug in the South"

I equally believe "This day" was driven by fear to issue an unprecedented TWO DAY recant.

The only way to live "peacefully" with the jihadists is to conquer them militarily. That is what Mr Bush is doing. And that is what the Israelites have been doing. The only language they understand is VIOLENCE. It is in their scriptures and those of them that pretend to be peace-loving are NOT true muslims.

The new Biafra must ensure that Britain and America do not back them this time. We must isolate and deal comprehensively with them.

At least two people are known to have died in protests on Thursday by Muslim radicals who have also burned a shopping centre and several Christian churches, according to witnesses.

Plain old fashioned sense of humor. What more could anyone ask than to have such a sense of stooge to make us laugh, too bad some people with plastic feelings are not fashoined with a smile. I betch ya, if you make mockery of Jesus Christ ansd Mary macdaline in the south, the only reactionary activist would come from the Preachers not the masses or enough to kill, mayhem and destroy. It really pays to be civilized.

Try as much as we can to belittle the said Thisday article, whether the writer meant it as joke or serious, it doesn't take away the fact that if it were a joke, it is a very expensive joke, and if it was a serious comment, then the writer should be PERSONALLY held responsible for the damages her action has cause many innocent people.

A good humourist must know WHERE, HOW and WHEN to make his jokes.

The reason why we Igbos must be careful what we say or do as long as we are in that forced entity called Nigeria is that at the last count, it will be the body-bags of Igbo men, women and children that will liter the streets of Kaduna. And believe you me, the "christian" President and our so-called christian brothers and sisters down south will not come to our rescue.

Since we have seen time and time again that the Igbos do not belong in the disunited and envious "christian" south nor are they welcomed to the hostile jihadist north, that calls for RESTRAIN on our part.

MOHAMMEDANISM AND COMMENTARY FROM WAYPOINT 1BIAFRA

At the outset let it be said that Muhammed was one of the greatest ungrateful figures of history whose over zealous mastering conviction was that there was no other religion but Islam and that there should be one community of believers [Moslems]. His ability as a moslem statesman faced with problems of extraordinary complexity was truly frightening. With all the power of oil, armies, and civil servants no Arab or moslem country has ever succeeded in holding his country together as he had proscribed. In Africa, it is either they are handicap for change or they are hell zealots. Since 9/11, Islamic names has become a face value for terror around the world. Be it In Biafranigeria, Isreal, Singapore, Australia and USA. There seem to be no change in sight about their monstrous determination to destruction yet they would like us to believe that Islam is in touch with humanity. There is no doubt in my mind that Islam is not a religion with jingle bell and Joy to the world, it is indeed satanic.

The intolerance of other religion is against the natural law of humanity, that is unstamped on the hearts of all men. For by what right should a created being compel others to think like them? It is strange that any one should be so foolish as to think that Islam can be thrust down a person's throat at the point of the sword or a bayonet.
Often in records, we have been told that Islam is a peaceful religion which was meant to raise them and make them better and nobler, has made them behave like beasts, homicidal bombers. Instead of broadening their minds; it has fequently made them narrow minded and intolerant of others. Some like NWAORA has suggested that their action in Biafranigeria is justifiable because the writer out of share sense of humor was insensitive to Mohammedanism and severe punishment should be metered against her. He went on to compel us to believe that sensitivity might be the key to understanding their pride and prejudice. And that Islam cannot be humanized with a sense of humor. But what Nwaora failed to understand is that Isioma's statement though humorous was not the proximate cause of their anger. Actually, the beauty contest was their source of anger. They saw Isioma as their guiding light to already fustrated attempt to cancel the contest.
I conclude by saying that there can be no doubt that the founder of this religion, Mohammed himself, is the unnoblest man the world has produced. TO BE CONTINUED

"NWAORA" (the peoples' child)? Thanks for that elivation from an ordinary son from Arochukwu to that of the PEOPLE!

Now back to the issue, I dont think you nor I can play the pope more than the Catholics here.

The below quote from Nduka Obaigbina, the Publisher of Thisday newspaper vindicates my position.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quote:

"Obaigbena who restated THISDAY's explanation which the newspaper has been publishing since Monday told BBC that the reporting of the Miss World Beauty pageant which the Muslims are protesting should not have been linked to the Holy Prophet.

He explained that the complicated network of computer system being operated by his organisation, was responsible for the mix-up after the supervising editor had expunged the offending clause from the article.

"On realising that that had happened, the editor issued a retraction and two apologies on Monday and Tuesday, which was considered insufficient and today (yesterday), we are publishing a more comprehensive apology", he said.

Obaigbena explained further that since Nigeria is a very sensitive country, he believed that the offending portion of the story should not have been published."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"HE BELIEVES THE OFFENDING PORTION OF THE STORY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED"--- full stop.

Nduka Obiegbana was dead wrong to apologise for the publication that was not done in error, the good news is that the lady that reported the story still stand by her words, those talibans in nigeria will soon meet their waterloo as Mr Bush's sarchlight is already focused on them, it will not be long before the world will see Mr Obasanjo's double standard, by the way, what law will Mr Obasanjo use to prosecute Isioma, Sharia or Nigerian constitution?. nigeria is dead, presently laying in state and will soon be buried.

General Olusegun Obasanjo and the Desert Rats has just informed the world that Biafranigeria is incapable of hosting any international or world event in their country. Olympic games, world soccer and host of other world event be it economical or social is not feasible in Biafranigeria. This Miss World has been moved to London because Obasanjo could not assure the safety of the world's most beautiful women or in control of the Islamic beast.

Now you know who is INCHARGE? I am sure if you knew earlier like some us do, you wouldn't have the gut to describe as "good politics" Obasanjo, the supposed President and Commander-in-Chief of his country's Armed Forces begging the Speaker of his country's House of Reps.

For your information, it is not only Obasanjo who is IN OFFICE WITHOUT POWER, his appointees and his chop-I-chop so-called Ministers like "intimidating" Kema Chikwe are.

Nwaaro, your indeed very funny. Your reasoning in this board is very inconsistent and despicable, in most cases juvenile. I am still researching your definition of insensitivity as it relates to our famous journalist Isioma and also your sudden cuddling with the islam as in touch with humanity. Your used by the idea that your endless loquacity, precisly loud mouth, however silly is a Biafran badge of honor? Your dead wrong. I sometimes wonder if your a relative of the degenerate ancestory of Nwabodos of the 16th century WAWA because of your untamed faculty and the inablity to differentiate between apples and oranges which comsumes a gross negligence of your left brain. Your lack of reasoning is your fundamental lost. You have just lost your privileges to have a meaningful conversation with Waypoint 1Biafra. Get a life pal.

I wont be so stupid to return your "civilized" insults in kind. Truly reasonable people will see from the content of your wild posts (which you call "freedom of expression")- be it about religious or ethnic tolerance that you are worse than those you disdainfully refer to as "Desert rats" and "yellow belly."

Once again, I tell you and your hoard of bragados that your attempt to use the Igbos as bullet- proofs while you sit in your comfort abroad will not work. Not as as far as I am a member of this board. If you are so blood thirsty, prove that by spilling your own blood first.

May I use this opportunity to welcome you on board. When you take a review of the posts herein (which I guess you must have done) you will observe that this place can be very stormy and really HOT sometimes. So I advice you put on your raincoat/bullet-proof and sun-shade.

Thanks for your advice.
Nonetheless, I think it is the MORAL and CIVIC duty of those of us who were born, lived, schooled, worked and had a FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE in that "hell on earth" called Nigeria not to allow people like Waypoint who CLEARLY know little or nothing about Biafranigeria (he said he left the place in 1979) and who did not live there for long to understand its diversity to use their short-circuit memory to say or do things that are likely to worsen the situation of our disenfranchised and helpless people back home.

Moreover, it is also important we do this, otherwise, the world will think that those who are advocating for Biafra or any other restructuring of the OVER CENTRALIZED Nigerian polity are people who are out to commit ethnic or religious cleansing when they are given an area of their own to administer.

Just like in every other mission I undertake, my duty on this board is to learn from those who are more INFORMED than I am, to teach when and where I have something important to discerminate and to guide against enemies from within and without who often come in many disguises.

Just when it appears that there is a cooling off period in the Islamic of Northern Nigerian, here comes a killing according to prophet Mohammed. In the interior part of Kano, a christian family of 6 and one toddler were burned to death while the moslems watched. It was believed that the killing was invoked from the satanic verses of the koran. As of this moment, there is no outrage from the government or the northern politicians. It is just business as usual, after all it is a christain family in a moslem nation.

This might have more to do with the fact that the Igboman was resident in the wrong part of nigeria than his religion.

Pastor and Six Family Members Burned to Death in Nigeria
Christian leaders suspect Muslim fanatics of fatal arson attack.
By Obed Minchakpu, Compass Direct | posted 05/07/2003

A Christian preacher in the northern Nigeria city of Kano and six members of his family died in a house fire on April 22. Christian leaders in the city believe Muslim militants deliberately set the fatal blaze.

Pastor Sunday Madumere and his family were asleep in the early hours of the morning when flames engulfed their home, located on Apple Avenue in an area of Kano known as "no-man's land."

Eyewitnesses said the pastor's wife and three children died with him in the inferno, along with two men believed to be his relatives.

Pastor Madumere's son Daniel reportedly managed to escape. Christopher Ahiante, a neighbor of the family, said the son sustained serious injuries and is presently in critical condition in a local hospital.

"It took well over two hours before the fire was brought under control by the men of the Nigerian Fire Service," Ahiante said.

Pastor Madumere is a well-known preacher in the area, and has led many Muslims in Kano to convert to Christianity. Observers believe the conversions may have angered Muslim militants in the city.

Police authorities say the fire may have been caused by an electrical fault. Christian leaders, however, insist that the pastor and his family were victims of religious intolerance.

"This incident is not the first of its kind here," said Rev. Gabriel Ojo of Kano's First Baptist Church. "A number of Christians here and their leaders have been killed in the past by Muslim fanatics."

Rev. Ojo said that some years ago, extremists murdered Gideon Akaluka, a Christian, and carried his severed head through the streets. To date, government authorities have failed to punish the killers.

Bishop Nyam of the Anglican Church of Nigeria had a similar complaint. "Since the adoption of the Islamic legal system here, we have been forced into difficult situations. Christians have suffered because Muslim fanatics have taken the law into their hands," he said.

"We are not surprised at all about this incident," he added. "We saw it coming."

Islam is a sexist, perveted, satanic, and violent religion that needs extreme purging and modification or simply needs to be wiped away from the face of earth. Anybody who disagrees with me (muslim/non muslim)is either ignorant or leaving in stupid denial that will lead him no where but to misery.

If allah could invent such demonic religion then he is a BASTARD like I've always said.

No other religion has brouht so much havoc on us than Islam. If Islam is peacful then how come the violence, death, and hatred generated by this religion from hell has become a world topic.

It is the duty of those who practice such a child raping, sexist religion to either fix the demonic religion handed down by the devil himself Allah or let the civilized world fix or eradicate it from India, Arab world, Israe [Mad] l, Asia, Americas, Europe, to Africa.

I am proud to come from a region untainted by Islam. [Mad]

'ONE NIGERIA' and a poor man's law --->Sharia

Here we go again, Nigeria divided between the Lazy North and hard working christian South, Males and females, christians and moslems.

Kano state has a legislature that forbids any man in close proximity with a female unless married to her. No female must ride the same bus with a male or ride at the back of a man on a motorized machine, the offense is punishable by amputation, public humiliation or fine... source CNN. Whats next?

I have heard those crazy Muslims in London claim that the bombings are not that bad, because there brothers are dying each day in the Middle East. Those Arabs have sooo much money, shopping at Harrod's with their nannies. Yet, they never stop to consider helping out their "brothers" who are actually starving in Nigeria. Talk about hypocrites.

hello ALL,the islamic republic of nigeria,is not what you should be worrying about.muslims killing christian, christians killing muslims, has been going on for centuries.NOTHING about the muslim faith appeals to me,but as they are also human beings i dont wish them dead.if i had a wish for them it would be that they did not seek to dominate the world and force the beliefs they hold on people that will NEVER agree with them.what you need to worry about is the world situation today, wereby muslims are seeking to control the world, and impose sharia law on the entire planet.if GOD forbid ,they do,even americans will be under such laws, and there will be nowere to run.adolf hitler had a similar idea, the world rose against him,for freedom and peace.60+ years later another world dominating type has arisen, and not only do Biafrans get killed the rest of the world is starting to get killed. If as 60 years ago,it is going to take 100 MILLION lives to get to PEACE,you and me, christian or muslim are bound to suffer,if its our lives we loose or those of our loved ones ,suffering will be beyond the comprehension of anything the world has seen so far.If muslims are prepared to commit suicide to get thier own way,it is nothing new,the kamakazie of japan felt the same,in vain.i urge muslims to look to PEACE as the way forward. In recent times the peoples of many countries have shown thier power over represive regimes and PEACEFULLY taken over, with PEOPLE POWER.there must be peaceful muslims worlwide that are prepared to stand up and persuade thier leaders that the rest of the world doesnt want what they have to offer.i am a man of PEACE,i love freedom,it is the only thing i would die for.the taking of ANY human life ,is against MY GOD,suicide in most normal peoples minds is a sign of weakness and mental disorder. If PEACE doesnt come ,the world will die.as footnote to the way muslims are thinking,i refer you to" voice of islam tyna onwudiwe" which you can find with google search.i responded to these malicious rantings, but still await a reply. If islam sees nothing good in we INFADELS,the task of us teaching you peace is going to be very rewarding.I am not aware that being muslim gives you a licence to kill, and to kill is a criminal offence, without a licence.WE ARE NOT AFRAID.haveaniceday.

It is shameful that Muslim faithfuls had to rebuke and remind these agitators that the apparent lopsidedness was not unprecedented. The regimes headed by Muslim Heads of State including those of Shagari, Buhari, Babangida, Abacha and Abdulsalam were also dangerously lopsided to favour Muslims. Let us show for example, the Federal Cabinet of Gen Ibrahim Babangida in December 1989.

... Out of 29 positions Christians occupied only six! The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) protested this imbalance and called President Babangidas attention to it but he simply dismissed it by saying that appointments were made on merit! It is important to say that Christians did not threaten crusade against the Babangida regime nor did they boycott the 1991 census or indeed the AIDS infested Political Bureau Babangida constituted

Can the whining stop now? I have said it over and again that our Moslem neighbours will never, ever get it. Imbalance and inequity are to them the real democratic ideals. You never see these irritants make a squeak when the 99.99999%%%%% Moslems that have tested power in that country usurp the peoples desire to have a balanced and just government. If this is how the northern Moslems see nigeria, I might be inclined to give total and full support to the life presidency wishes of aremu obasanjo. Are the northern Moslems the only ones fit to aspire for the highest political post in that banana country? The last I checked, countless number of people from Rivers, Calabar etc exists that are way more than capable of redirecting a hopeless country. So whats this noise with our Moslem neighbours?

WHY NIGERIA WILL NEVER BE RECKONED WITH....HAUSA LEADERSHIP: Here is Yaradua and his leadership after 100 days in the office and the reason why his administration will never produce....> Hausas.

Labour flayed the political style of Yar'Adua and declared that it is not radically different from his predecessor, Olusegun Obasanjo.
"In terms of politics and election-management, the government has just about the same approach as its predecessor. Indeed, President Yar'Adua's enthusiastic presence at Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rallies preceding the re-run of elections in some states brings to mind former President Olusegun Obasanjo's widely criticised do-or-die approach to elections," it declared.
NLC also decried the government's decision to put emphasis on road transport, saying the position is not realistic in the present circumstances. It called for more investment on rail system.
Irrespective of the current upward push of oil prices at the international market, NLC said government should hold its agreement with labour on domestic fuel prices sacrosanct.
Its words: "The stability in the prices of petroleum products remains a core challenge. The moratorium agreed between this administration and organised labour on fuel price levels should be sustained. The NLC believes that the nation has the resources to sustain the current fuel price level."
Also, former NLC President, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, has appealed to Nigerians to remain vigilant and work towards the successful entrenchment of democratic values in the country. He noted that in spite of certain imperfections, the country would fair better under a system that allows the electorate not only to elect, but to critically engage their chosen leaders.
In an e-mailed statement, Oshiomhole expressed confidence that the Yar'Adua government would pursue vigorously the entrenchment of the rule of law and ensure that the wishes of the electorate are realised.
To the Action Congress (AC), the nation is now at a stand still.
``Whereas under the administration of former President Obasanjo, there was a lot of motion without movement, now there is no motion, there is no movement. The ship of state has dropped its anchor and the helmsman has gone under the deck to hibernate,'' AC said in a statement issued in Abuja yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
The party said democracy has never been so threatened as it is under the watch of Yar'Adua and the PDP.
``An obsession to win elections at all cost has seen the PDP, in collusion with a spineless Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), using all foul means to win every available poll and celebrating its so-called emasculation of the opposition. Now, the PDP has taken a bold step towards the emergence of a one-party state, which is the dream of its old and new leaders,'' it said.
AC said, however, that the PDP has begun to realise that it is much easier for it to rig elections than to positively impact on the lives of the citizens, hence the ruling party and its leaders have become objects of derision by the same people they claim to govern.
The party said: ``Since indications are that this administration has forgotten its seven-point agenda, we recall them here: Tackling the general insecurity of life and property; tackling the nationwide shortage of energy and power; alleviating mass poverty by wealth and employment creation; providing qualitative, functional and affordable education for the people; improving mass transportation; improving food security and agricultural production and initiating a general land reform."
After its review of the state-of-the-nation in the last one year, Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, warned President Yar'Adua against returning the country to the past which governance was dominated by a section of the nation.
In a statement titled: "One year of Federal Government of the North," it said: "Afenifere had in February 2008 warned the nation of the increasing northernisation of power by President Umaru Yar'Adua in a country that is supposed to be a Federal Republic.
"We observed that Yar'Adua had selected most of his key aides from the North and that has created fears about the possible absence of national perspective from the president's inner council.
"We pointed out that the patterns of appointment created a situation where the Joint Intelligence Board, which co-ordinates information sharing between the security agencies would meet and there may not be a non-northern face. On the economic front, the Ministers for National Planning and Finance would sit with the Chief Economic Adviser to develop policy for the whole country and they are all from the North."
Afenifere described the situation as a throwback to the military days when northern officials stocked their inner teams with fellow northerners.
The group said it had thought that the President would be moved to consider its observation and ensure that the Federal Character principle enshrined in the Constitution prevailed.
"But alas, the pattern of further appointments since then has shown that there is a deliberate attempt to northernise power. Like the witch lady who continues to give birth to female children, the President has continued to load his appointments with northerners that we can say without equivocation on his first anniversary that we have a Federal Government of the North!
"The latest of such appointments have been the replacement of the President's National Assembly Liaison Officer, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa with Senator Aba Aji, NTA's Director General Toni Iredia with Usman Magawata, EFCC's Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde with Farida Waziri, and Customs Comptroller-General, Gyang Buba with Mr. Hamman Ahmed. Ahmed is an Assistant Comptroller with three Southern Deputy Comptrollers from the South ahead of him," Afenifere noted.
The group listed some officials and their offices to show seeming domination by a section: President Alhaji Umaru Yar'Adua (Katsina); Senate President Senator David Mark (Benue); Chief Justice Justice Legbo Kutigi (Niger); SFG Ambassador Babagana Kingibe (Borno); Energy & Power Minister Alhaji Umaru Yar'Adua (Katsina);
Chief of Staff General Abdullahi Mohammed (Kwara); Minister of Finance Dr. Shamsudeen Bello (Kano); Minister of Defence Alhaji Yayale Ahmed (Bauchi); Minister of National Planning Sanusi Daggash (Borno); Chief Economic Adviser Tanimu Kurfi (Katsina); DG SSS, Afas Gadzama (Yobe); Accountant General Ibrahim Dankwabo (North); Controller-General, Customs, Hamman Ahmed (Adamawa); Attorney General Michael Aondoakaa (Benue); EFCC Farida Waziri (North); NTA DG Usman Magawata (Sokoto); National Assembly Liaison Senator Aba Aji (North); NNPC Group MD Engr. Abubakar Yar'Adua (North); Police Reforms Panel, Alhaji M.D. Yusufu (Katsina); Energy Council, Rilwan Lukman (Kaduna); Electoral Reforms, Justice M.Uwais (Katsina).
According to Afenifere: "There are speculations that Alhaji Bello Sulaiman would be re-appointed as GMD of PHCN while another northerner may replace CBN Governor, Charles Soludo soon." Apologists of Yar'Adua may want to say that governance is about sourcing for the best hands no matter their origin. But even Olusegun Obasanjo, in spite of his many vices, could not be accused of finding the best hands among only the Yoruba in his eight years in office. The truth really is that the Yoruba were wondering if they didn't have people like El-Rufais, Ribadus, Nenadi Usmans and others from the North and the Akinyulis, Soludos, Okonjo-Iwealas, Ezekwezilis etc from the East," the group said.
Afenifere described the last one year as being that of inertia, lack of focus, policy reversals, ruse of law, underdevelopment and breakdown in governance.
It noted that while campaigning in 2007, President Yar'Adua promised to declare emergency in power and energy sector within 100 days, one year after, that remains a threat and the nation has only enjoyed more darkness, adulterated fuel and hundreds of deaths in pipeline explosions.
The group's statement reads: "One year after, the prices of food items have gone beyond the reach of the people that those on minimum wage have to log two months salaries to buy a bag of rice.
The much advertised 'rule of law' mantra is daily proving to be a ruse as it has served mainly the interest of those of patrons of corruption. In one year of Yar'Adua we are having the third person in the saddle of EFCC all in an attempt to pacify corrupt people who brought the regime to power. Nigerians are wondering why Lamorde had to be hurriedly replaced with Acting Chairman, Farida Waziri by the 'rule of law' regime.
"All that is filtering out is that Lamorde was about to charge more of the ex-governors and the owner of Societe Generale Bank when corruption moved and gave a nominee to head the EFCC. It would not shock them if tomorrow they hear that one of the ex-governors charged by Ribadu has been appointed as the Head of the EFCC."
According to Afenifere: "Those charged with mind-boggling financial crimes now stroll in and out of the Villa with interview sessions to offer opinions on the way forward after sessions with Mr. President.
"Virtually, all infrastructure has gone from bad to worse. There are no roads anywhere as most state governors now charter planes for domestic trips. We recently lost 46 soldiers in one road accident, a daily figure of casualties that is doubtful for any well-equipped army at the war front in recent times. Ironically these soldiers survived in Darfur only to be claimed by the undeclared war going on at home," the group noted.
Afenifere noted that health facilities have entered a state of comatose that it is only those who have no other choice that go to the hospitals now. "If Sani Abacha were to be alive, we would ask him to compare what we have today with the 'consulting clinics' of 1984."
To President Yar'Adua, the group says: "Nigeria is dying and needs urgent revival. It is time to get the best hands across Nigeria to salvage the situation; it is no time for irredentist and obscene sectional politics."
While the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senators were full of praises for him, a senator elected on the platform of (AC) Ganiu Solomon rated him very poor and slow in performance.
Solomon of the AC from Lagos State, reviewed the crusade against corruption in the country and submitted that it has recorded no boost since the emergence of President Yar'Adua last year.
In an interview with journalists at the National Assembly yesterday, Solomon said that the Yar' Adua administration had performed quite below average in the crusade.
He noted that it was difficult for anybody to identify any key move made by government in the last one year against corruption adding that the only issue has been the bickering between the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Michael Aondaokaa, and the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu that became noticeable after the election of Yar'Adua.
His words: "Well, I will not say that something substantial has been achieved in terms of the fight against corruption in the last one year. Sadly, I will not give them anything in the region of average. I won't. Yes, you can say that the past President has a penchant to play to the gallery, but one way or the other, he instilled certain levels of fear into some people's heart. But I cannot say the same of the present situation. You cannot even point to any case of corruption being unearthed by the administration to give us an impression that this is an administration that has a low tolerance for corruption.
But Senator Grace Bent , a PDP Senator from Adamawa State said it was too early to begin to assess the administration of Yar' Adua, pointing out that he had his own style of running administrations.
According to her, the task of settling down in governance is too enormous, describing the President as a man who believes in being meticulous without being stampeded.
And Senator Osita Izunaso of the PDP from Imo State said Yar'Adua's first year is "one year of giving hope to Nigerian people; one year of stabilising the nation; one year of saying that democracy is still alive".
Senator Ikechuwu Obiorah of the PDP from Anambra State was of the view that: "Expectations were too high in terms of hunger and deprivations. He has been trying to grasp the issues affecting Nigerians. It is not possible to right all the wrongs in this one year."

NORTHERN NIGERIA, A MENACE TO NIGERIA...READ THIS.

THE NORTH MUST WALK FAST
By Kole Ahmed Shettima
Thursday, June 5, 2008
COUNTDOWN to Reducing Maternal, Newborn and Child Deaths: A Collective and Integrated Responsibility is the theme for this years Safe Motherhood Day celebrated on May 22. In Nigeria and indeed the whole world, the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) depends on progress in northern Nigeria. About 500,000 women die due to complications of pregnancy worldwide; 54,000 of the death or 10 per cent occurs in Nigeria although we are only 1.7 %.

In other words, a Nigerian woman dies every 10 minutes from the complications of pregnancy. Before you finish reading this article, a woman would have died due to childbirth. Northern Nigeria has double responsibilities on the achievement of the MDGs. If the global indicators and especially MDG 4 (reduce child mortality) and MDG 5 (improve maternal health), are to be achieved, significant progress must be recorded in Nigeria; and for Nigeria to make remarkable progress, the indicators in northern Nigeria must change.
Hence our strategy on the MDGs should focus on the part of the world, which carries the highest disease burden, northern Nigeria. All available data on maternal and infant health show the dire situation in northern Nigeria. A facility-based maternal mortality survey conducted by the Society of Gynecology and Obstetricians of Nigeria (SOGON) reveals the number of maternal deaths per 100,000 births in Lagos (3380), Kano (7523), Maiduguri (727), Jos (846), Calabar (2972) and Enugu (783). A survey by the Federal Office of Statistics and UNICEF confirmed that maternal mortality is more serious in the northern part of the country: 165 in the Southwest, 286 in the Southeast, 1025 in the Northwest and 1549 in the Northeast.
Infant mortality and under-five mortality follow the same pattern as maternal mortality. For example, infant mortality is 125 per 1000 live births in the Northeast as against 66 in the Southeast, and under-five morality is 269 live births in the Northwest as against 113 in the Southeast. Medical and sociological causes of maternal mortality are known and so are the interventions. The medical causes are bleeding (23%), hypertension (11%), infection (17%), insufficient blood levels (11%), unsafe abortion (11%), malaria (11%), obstructed labor (11%) and HIV/AIDS and others (5%). Infant mortality is largely due to neonatal (26%) and malaria (24%). Poverty, gender inequality and other forms of cultural and social discriminations are at the root of maternal and infant mortality.
Two of the underlying causes of maternal and infant mortality are also part of the MDGs. These are poverty (MDG 1) and gender inequality (MDG 3). As expected the prevalence of poverty and gender inequality are also worst in the northern part of the country. For instance, the incidence of poverty as measured by Food-Energy household consumption is as follows: Northeast (70.3%), North-central (66.5%), Northwest (65.4%), South-south (55.8%), Southwest (46.1%) and Southeast (39.8%). Jigawa State has the highest incidence of poverty of 90.9%. What is equally disturbing is that inequality within the north is greater than within the south.
The gender disparities in education illustrate the level of gender inequality in northern Nigeria. Whereas 75% of women have no education in the northwest, in the southeast the figure is 8%. Of the 13 states with gender disparity in primary and secondary education, 11 of these states are in the north. A survey in 2006 in the Northwest and the Northeast recorded enrolment rates for girls in Junior Secondary School lower than Sub-Saharan Africa average of 26%. Fortunately, low cost and simple medical and social interventions to prevent and reduce maternal mortality and infant mortality have been documented. Bleeding can be effectively managed with a simple device called the Anti-shock garment.
This device can keep a bleeding woman a live for up to 48 hours until she can be given blood transfusion. Magnesium Sulfate is a well-researched medication for hypertension, and it costs about N1200 to treat a patient. Medical doctors in Murtala Specialist Hospital, Minjibir Hospital and Wudil Hospital have referred to Magnesium Sulfate as wonder drug and miracle drug. I recently had a pleasant visit to these facilities to see the use of the Anti-Shock Garment and Magnesium Sulfate to save the lives of women. At the MacArthur Foundation, these two medical interventions, that can be used to respond to about 33 percent of maternal deaths in Nigeria, form part of our strategy to accelerate the achievement of MDGs in Nigeria and around the world. In deed, the SOGON facility survey revealed that bleeding and hypertension accounted for more than 70% of maternal deaths in most facilities.
Two forums convened by Northern Governors in November 2007 and March 2008 on health and education respectively have also outlined policy changes that could accelerate the achievement of the MDGs. These include free pre-natal, delivery and post delivery services; free child and under-five medical services; and free and compulsory girl-child education up to senior secondary school. Certainly financial resources are not a constraint.
The total Federation Account allocation to the 19 northern states from 1999 to 2007 is N2.4 trillion. What is lacking is the political will. If the Governors muster the political will there is hope that the world will witness appreciable progress on the attainment of the MDGs.
Nigeria could be in the forefront of the renewed attention to the MDGs. Northern Nigerians nay Nigerians can walk with their shoulders high.
Dr. Shettima is the Director, John D and Catherine T MacArthur Foundation, Abuja.

OHANAEZE BLAMES NORTH FOR FOI ACT IMPASSE- FROM LAWRENCE NJOKU, ENUGU

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo rose from her meeting in Enugu, yesterday urging the speedy passage of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill, just as it declared that the delay in passing the bill was part of the northern agenda to hold political control of the country.

It said those against the passage of the bill might have realized that it would expose shoddy deals that go on in government and, as such, would continue to truncate efforts in ensuring that it received speedy passage.
Ohanaeze said when the bill is passed; Nigerians could now have the opportunity to make certain inquiries about government, adding that the bill would serve federal government's war against corruption, especially in high places.
At the meeting, presided over by the President General, Chief Dozie Ikedife, which may have signaled the end of hostilities in the Igbo apex organization, Ohanaeze also asked the South East governors to ensure the realization of an international status for the Akanu Ibiam airport in Enugu, insisting that several months after the federal government promised to upgrade the place, nothing has been heard about it.
At the meeting were former Enugu governor, Okwesilieze Nwodo, Rear Admiral Alison Madueke, Prof Ben Obumselu, Chief Ralph Uwazulike, Prof Offiah Nwali, Prof Uche Azikiwe, Prof Pita Ejiofor, Prof J.C.Ogbonna and Major General JOJ Okoloagu rtd, among others.
South East governors had, last month, given an endorsement to the Ikedife-led Ohanaeze as the authentic group to serve the interest of the zone till November this year, when a fresh election would be held for a new executive in the organization.
Following the recognition, the keys of the secretariat that were said to have been seized earlier by the former Secretary General of the group, Chief Joe Achuzia was released to Ikedife. Before now, meetings of the group were held in hotels.
In a communiqu released at the end of the meeting, Ohanaeze condemned the alleged delay in the passage of the FOI bill by the Senate, insisting that 'external forces are at place to thwart the bill following the realization that it would serve as war against corruption in the country".
Ohanaeze challenged members of the National Assembly to live to their vows and pass the bill in the interest of the people of the country.
"There is no other way in which the people can feel proper representation unless the bill is passed and signed into law", it said.
The Organization observed that the economy of the South East has almost collapsed, due to epileptic power supply and urged the governors of the zone to take the lead in ensuring that alternative power supply was provided for the people to enable commerce thrive in the zone.
It further appealed to the federal government to find ways of bringing succor to South East zone, by ordering the repairs of vandalized pipelines in the area. The organization, lamented that for several years now, the depots in Enugu, Aba and other places in the zone have not functioned, adding that it has tripled the cost of petroleum products in the zone.

SOLUDO RAISES ALARM OVER POVERTY IN THE NORTH..SAYS POVERTY IS A NORTHERN PHENOMENON..HASSAM IBRAHIM, KANDUNA
Sunday, July 20, 2008

The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has said in Kaduna at the weekend, that poverty is a Northern phenomenon, insisting that the crippling poverty in the North is a national crisis just like that of the Niger Delta.
Soludo, who spoke at a one day public lecture organised by the Northern Development Initiative (NDI) at the Arewa House Kaduna, said for Nigeria to achieve its target of being among the twenty largest economies in the world, there must be all inclusive development to cover all parts of the country and the poverty in the North must not be ignored.
The CBN boss who said that the alarming rate of poverty in the North was dragging back the development of other parts of Nigeria, explained that we need to have an inclusive economic development for Nigeria to achieve Vision 2020. It is a task for all of Nigerians but I want to argue that crippling poverty in the Northern Nigeria is as much a national crises as that of the Niger Delta.
So, for development at the national level to be sustainable, we must make it an inclusive development leaving no one behind. All aspects of the economy must be making progress at its various speeds and according to its needs. This is the time for us all to focus our attention on the Northern economy because according to the last census, the North constitutes about 52 per cent of the Nigerian population but looking at all the indicators of development, the North seems to be lagging far behind the southern states.
As the nation move together on national development, poverty eradication and achieving its vision 2020 objectives, we must pay attention not to leave a big proportion far behind.
Poverty is unacceptably high in Nigeria but the alarming and persisting level of poverty in Nigeria is a phenomenon in the North.
He said while Lagos State recorded the highest poverty level in the South which was about 60 per cent, there was no state with less that 60 per cent poverty in the North and it is as high as 95 percent in some Northern states.
In the North, it is lowest in North Central states but records an average of 80 per cent in the North West and North East.
He said that there is need for the country to focus attention on the development of the Northern economy, particularly agriculture and industry which are the mainstays of the economy, as it currently lagged behind that of the Southern states.
He ,therefore, called on all Nigerians to collectively work towards the development of the nations economy. He also tasked the Northern elites on the development of Northern agriculture and industry especially generation of employment opportunities to sustain its economy and education, as he said that knowledge and skill is a critical element of human and economic development.
We need to roll up our sleeves because from all indicators, most parts of the North seem to lag behind all other parts of the country. If 21st century is knowledge based and only those with knowledge, sound education and skills will progress and develop, then the North has its work cut out, as 16 Northern states excluding Benue, Kwara and Kogi has a total of about 73,000 candidates out of over 1 million university applicants in the country registered to sit for the 2008 Jamb examination.
This figure probably compare with Anambra State which has over 60, 000 Jamb candidates, while a state like Imo has over 100, 000, Kano State records less than 10, 000 university candidates.
This shows that the 16 Northern states will produce less than 10 per cent graduates of other states that will be produced in the South.
He challenged the Northern elite to fight poverty in their respective villages by setting up the micro finance bank with just about N20 million which would empower hundreds of the villagers.
This is what we are talking about when we say poverty reduction. Our elites should contribute to the growth of the North, this is a challenge.
The representative of Chief Edwin Clark and Minister of State for Special Duties, Elder Peter Orubebe, said on the occasion that the problem of Niger Delta needed only a political will to be resolved and lamented over the huge amount of money sent to the Niger Delta for development but were not properly monitored.
According to him, the problem in Niger Delta had been there for a long time while different governments had made efforts to resolve it in vain. The problems include unemployment, lack of infrastructural development, impoverishment, not being part of the oil economy and being underpowered.
He expressed hope that since President Umaru YarAdua had mandated Vice President Jonathan Goodluck to work towards finding solution for the problems, the problems would soon be tackled .
Similarly, former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was represented by Professor Samuel, stressed the importance of Lagos as the economic hub of Nigeria, saying it is the only state where all the 36 states of the federation were fully represented.
Highlight of the occasion was the conferment of the Arewa Inspirational Leadership Award by the NDI on Chief Edwin Clark, Senator Bola Tinubu and Professor Charles Soludo.

LOPSIDED FEDERAL APPOINTMENTS BY YARADUA : BY EDITORAL BOARD FROM PUNCH

There has been a deluge of public outcry, especially from the South, against perceived lopsidedness in the appointment of candidates from the Northern part of the country into political offices at the expense of the other parts of the nation by President Umaru YarAdua.

A prominent Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, for instance, has accused the President of breaching the logic, letter and philosophy of the Federal Character principle as entrenched in the 1999 Constitution. The fear is that, under the ongoing rotational presidency, this development may set a dangerous precedent in which each region will henceforth see governance as a means of extending patronage to its own section of the country at the expense of the progress of the nation.
The North, it is claimed, is effectively in charge of the three arms of government. The President of the Federation, the President of the Senate and the Chief Justice of the Federation come from the same region the North. Key ministerial appointments such as Finance, Justice, National Planning, Federal Capital Territory, Agriculture and Water Resources and Defense are also in the hands of northerners.
Northerners hold sensitive security positions such as Director-General of the State Security Service, the Chief of Army Staff, Minister of Defense, Chief of Defense Staff and the National Security Adviser.
The petroleum sector is also effectively in the hands of the North. While the President directly supervises the ministry as was obtainable under his predecessor, the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and the Director of the Department of Petroleum Resources are Northerners.
Some critics are also of the opinion that juicy positions in the public service and the parastatals are being held by people from YarArduas part of the country. These include the Accountant-General of the Federation, the Comptroller-General of Customs, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority.
Besides, Northerners are fully in charge in the judicial arm of government as they hold the three most senior positions in that sector Chief Justice of the Federation, the President of the Court of Appeal and Chief Judge of the Federal High Court. The suspicion is lingering as well that the current travails of the Central Bank Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, may not be unconnected with a plan to completely northernize key finance positions.
Moreover, the panels recently constituted by the President Council on Energy, the Electoral Reform Committee and the Police Reform Panel have all been headed by Northerners.
The official response to this allegation is that all the appointments were based on merit.
It is unfortunate that different sections of the country are squabbling over federal positions. It is because the centre controls the lions share of the nations oil-based revenue. Every section of the country wants its own people to be well represented in the sharing of the national cake. The Obasanjo administration had been similarly accused of lopsided appointments. The bitter rivalry for the control of the centre is partly due to the nations skewed federal structure.
Nevertheless, President YarAdua should take another look at the appointments he has made so far with a view to being fair to all sections of the country. Section 14 (3) of the Constitution states that, The composition of the Government of the Federation or any of its agencies and the conduct of its affairs shall be carried out in such a manner as to reflect the federal character of Nigeria and the need to promote national unity, and also to command national loyalty, thereby ensuring that there shall be no predominance of persons from a few states or from a few ethnic or other sectional groups in that Government or in any of its agencies.
The notion of federal character was coined to foster the corporate existence of the nation, ensure unity and give every Nigerian a sense of belonging within a pluralistic and diverse nation. This is even more so after recalling that it was perceived marginalization of a section of the country that plunged the nation into a civil war in 1967. The Federal Character Commission and the relevant committees of the National Assembly should look at the complaints of those who feel marginalized.

HAUSA NORTH...WE ARE NOT ECONOMIC PARASITES...YES YOU'RE PARASITES IN NIGERIA

Governors of the 19 Northern states of the Federation yesterday faulted the assumption that the people of the North are dependent on oil proceeds from the Niger Delta region for survival.

The governors were of the opinion that the North can survive on their own with or without the oil proceeds, noting that all they needed to do to survive was to develop and harness the rich agricultural potentials that abound in the region.
Governor of Niger State and Chairman of the Northern Governors' Forum, Alhaji Babangida Aliyu, who made the position of the North on the issue known in a keynote address he delivered at the First Northern Agricultural Summit, also claimed that the collapse of industries in the north was part of the international conspiracy against the region .
Aliyu said: "The future of the North lies in our hands, and we should today begin to shape her destiny. As a Nigerian of Northern extraction, I feel very unhappy when someone describes me as a parasite because of oil, when I know I have the capacity to solve my problems, and probably do even better through agriculture and education.
The governor, however, regretted that farming activities in the Northern States are carried out mainly by peasant farmers whose level of operation is limited by inadequate funding and finance, inability to procure required farm inputs and poor crop yields.
Expatiating on their claim that the collapse of the industries in the region was an international conspiracy, Aliyu observed that, "most of the plants have been probably sold to Asians who in turn shut them down as a part of international conspiracy to turn the North into dumping grounds for their goods and products while our farmers fold their arms in hapless confusion.
"We need to examine the issues that led to de-industrialisation of the North, whereby many of the Northern industries have been closed down with attendant consequences for the social security of our people. For instance, we need to be very clear on why the two tractor assembly plants located at Kano and Bauchi (Styre tractors) are today shut down, or why most of our textile factories are out of business.
Our fertilizer plants are producing below installed capacity or have been shut down, thus making the commodity expensive and inaccessible. We must continue to find answers to the question: what went wrong?,"
In his speech at the occasion Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, described as shameful the nation's inability to feed its people in spite of the countrys vast arable lands.
The governor observed that no nation enjoys lasting peace and stability if only a few of its citizens live in opulence and affluence, which he noted regrettably, was the situation in the North.
Also alluding to the claim that the North depends on the wealth from the South for survival, Nyako declared that the time had come for "the North to wake up and correct the erroneous impression that we are seen as economic parasites." ."
Nyako, however, flayed the regions elites for causing most of the ravaging poverty and decaying infrastructure in the North, regretting that, "available infrastructure is decaying by the day. The scope and quality of education in the North, including acquisition of basic skills are declining with amazing rapidity.
According to him: Resulting from the above, the levels of poverty in the Northern states are reaching legendary dimensions. The plain reality is that poverty in Nigeria today is almost exclusively a Northern preserve.
Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, Dr. Sayid Abba Ruma, who was represented at the occasion by a Director in his Ministry disclosed that the Federal Government would from next year stop the procurement and distribution of fertilizer to farmers.
Ruma said the government decided to take this step following the discovery that the subsidy input has not reflected in the prices at which fertilizer was being sold to farmers.
The minister also announced government's plan to build agro-industrial parks in the six geo-political zones of the country with a view to further developing agriculture.

WHY NIGERIA IS IN TROUBLE IN THE NEXT 50 YEARS, EVEN IF CORRECTIONS ARE MADE. DESPITE THE FIRST SIN, CHRISTIANS AND MOSLEMS. READ THIS.

The Influential Thieves
By
Hakeem babalola
[email protected]

The headline-grapping news is shocking and mocking. Nigerian public officials are flamboyant deceivers; they attract us with tricks and jokes while enjoying authority stealing. Whats Always

Wrong with These Our Public Officials? These people arent mad but thieves. And they should be treated as such. Period!
Whats Always Wrong with These Our Public Officials? I am aware that the question being asked sounds trite and commonplace. Social critics, political commentators, professional or citizen journalists, even ordinary woman in the street speak and discuss about this question on a daily basis. In fact, I have stolen this question from one of the Nigerian home videos in which one of the protagonists asks the question with frustration and dashing hopes clearly written on his face. Moreover, I had once or twice admitted that Nigerian social critics often repeat an earlier theme of a composition. This is because the events in Nigeria today are a repeat of yesterdays.

Nigeria is in trouble. Another clich, isnt it? It has been in trouble since inception. It will continue to be in trouble in the next fifty years, even if care is taken. Call me a pessimist if you like. This is scary but nobody would be able to prevent it. And unless the daily news reports from Nigeria are false. There are too many injustices and dishonesty in the land. Hypocrisy and authority stealing are glorified, even by those being oppressed. There are too many unbelievable reports about our public officials, including Mr. Presidents. They behave as if they are animals dealing with animals. And Nigerians, it seems, are just too weak to check the immoderations of their public officials?
Just imagine these headlines: Aso Rock budgets N2.3million daily for refreshment....N1.5m for eye glasses; EFCC: Waziri vows to step on toes, pursue Govs, LG chairmen; Two ex-ministers arrested over N19.5 billion aviation fund; Austrian contractor confesses -"I bribed Borishade N1 billion"; N4.5bn fraud: EFCC arrests another NAMA chief; EFCC set to arrest beneficiaries of PEF fund; EFCC trails three Northern ex-governors; Ex-Gov, minister, army general, reporters fingered in PE car gift scandal; Okonjo Iwela linked with N19.5b aviation scam; Why I gave N1.5m to fake EFCC operatives Edo commissioner; EFCC: How Ex-Gov Stole N1.5billion In Five Months Court Puts Him under House restriction; How Emirs, senators shared 65,755 tons of grains meant for starving Nigerians; NPA fraud: EFCC launches manhunt for Bode George
64 million Nigerian youths jobless; Health workers to go on strike; teachers vow not to end strike Obasanjos administration spent N86.3bn on railway project; How Obasanjos govt killed automotive industry-report; Why power supply is deteriorating daily-PHCN; EFCC accuses states, councils of squandering funds; Waziri wants psychiatric tests for public officers; The Scandal of the judges: How Osun Tribunal Was Compromised; Ogun NUJ President resigns over graft; N78m spent on Sallah rams lands DG in EFCC net; How Alao-Akala looted over 1bn in 11 months; YarAdua, VP spend N655.97m on foreign trips; Accountant General lists points of corruption in govt; Exposed! $800m Fraud Rocks PPMCICPC Moves In; How judge, eight others concealed N1.4bn 2007 unspent funds-EFCC; and so on and so forth.
Now tell me how a right thinking Nigerian would not be angry and sad over these kinds of reports? Now tell me exactly how the nation could progress under this circumstance? Now tell me why I should not repeat myself? Now tell me what other solutions to offer that have not been offered by the experts, analysts and concerned Nigerians both at home and in the Diaspora? Hadji Alade Odunewu, chairman Board of Trustees, Nigerian Media Print Awards, uses cynicism, frustration, despair, dungeon and hunger to describe the depth of authority stealing among public officials.
For lack of better description, said Odunewu at the public presentation of Chief Dayo Duyiles Three Books. We have lately been witnesses to what I call a festival of Probes in the National Assembly, all of which continues to expose high profile looting, greed and thievery in high places. This should not surprise you. The background to the perfidy has to do with the perception politicians in developing world have of public office and stewardship. In developing countries, it has been said that politics is concerned with sharing out a pitifully small national cake.

In her own efforts, Mrs Farida Waziri, chairman of the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), recently echoed Prof. Wole Soyinkas thorough psychiatric tests for all aspiring public office holders. Speaking during a visit by the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President, Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), to the commission in Abuja to seek its collaboration in fighting corruption, Waziri was reported to have said: most of the negative character traits exhibited by public officers in the country, especially massive looting of the treasury, are symptoms of mental illness. Even former President Obasanjo had made a similar call before he became Nigerian president in 1999.

What else should I add? Nigerians are suffering. Nigerians are dying. Nigerians want to enjoy basic amenities. Another clich, isnt it? Are Nigerians demanding for too much? Perhaps! In Nigeria, it is part of class struggle for the rich to see the poor begging them for amala or tuwo or isiewu. Life is not complete unless our public officials find someone to oppress. After which they would invoke the name of God. Allah is the one who appointed me, is now a common parlance. And the masses in bittersweet moment would shout hallelujah.

What could make our public officials so daring in the way they steal? Further clich, isnt it? Surely its not because they are mad, so I consider the recommendation of psychiatric tests by Prof. Wole Soyinka and others as literary. I think the Nigerian society is contributing immensely to this horrendous official thievery that has shaken our cities. Each time public official assumed office, their family, relations, friends and even colleagues immediately put them under intense pressure. They would admonish them saying, Oh, by tomorrow you shall be in tears over lost opportunities.

If authority stealing is treated as armed robbery, I doubt if any senator or governor or local chairman would be so audacious in the way they steal. I agree with Mrs. Waziri assertion, If a man is punished for violating the laws of the land others who are of like mind will be deterred. In addition, we need honest declaration and leadership by example before we can be able to curb authority stealing. Also, we must guide against any kind of expression not supported by real conviction. Unfortunately each regime has been unable to implement leadership by example. In fact, every regime has made mockery of curbing official thievery.
Apart from excessive stealing, incompetence is another clich in our dictionary. Our public officials are too relaxed in the course of discharging their duties. They dont see the opportunity as a call to serve but a heaven to accumulate necessary and unnecessary wealth. From the local chairman to the president, no one is reliable. Otherwise many social and cultural issues plaguing the country today would have been resolved. Its quite unbelievable that our public officials are in the habit of referring to themselves as patriots. What kind of nationalistic thinkers would prefer to die in the United Kingdom, or even acquire dual citizenship?

I strongly believe eight years as a local chairman or governor or president is enough to effect a positive change in the lives of citizens. One year or two could be devoted to health care system; another two years to education; power could take one or two years; and the remaining years for other infrastructures and equally important issues that could progress a nation. But what we often heard is loud and confused and empty talk. The Niger Delta issue is a typical example of such grandiosity. Its rhetoric masquerading as promise since time immemorial. Virtually every government has been insincere in an effort to usher peace and justice in the region.

After almost 50 years, the Nigerian govt still lacks knowledge about governance. Public officials are deliberately wasting time on issues, especially Niger Delta, a region where oil Nigerias main revenue is being produced. Niger Deltans have water but thirsty; they have wealth yet remain poor. Nigerian public officials are flamboyant deceivers; they attract us with tricks and jokes while enjoying authority stealing. The headline-grapping news is shocking and mocking. These people arent mad but thieves. And we should treat them as such. Period! No wonder Gen. Yakubu Gowon, ex-Head of State excused himself from the Niger Delta summit chairmanship. He knows itd amount to the usual rhetoric.

Whats wrong with these people? I mean, who would have predicted that FESTAC Town and Jakande Estate for example, would one day be flooded with crocodiles and water respectively? Who would have predicted that education, health care and other social facilities will be so rotten in a country once called Giant of Africa? So decayed that Mr. President prefers to be siphoned abroad for treatment! So crappy that the Education Minister prefers sending his children overseas for schooling! The worst injustice is when public officials use the instruments of state to cheat citizens. Its worse than armed robbery, for armed robbery is armed robbery while government is governance; its basic duty being to protect citizens.

Even the National Assembly and the Senate that supposed to hold the executive arms of government responsible is as incompetent as ever. They seem to be in the House for their own pocket. We had witnessed what is now popularly called Ghana-Must-Go being exchanged in both the Lower and Upper Houses. As a result, our representatives often compromise their civic duties. Since theres no one to make these erring public officials accountable, they become audacious explorers; invulnerable to fear of any kind. In the process therefore, the judiciary, legislature and the executive become one. And they surely have the ability to cajole the masses. Whats always wrong with these our public officials?

To answer your questions and provide you with answers the situation in Nigeria because Nigerian citizens are coward, comfortable with poverty and the North has ruined the country with bad governance. Most public officials including Obansanjo and IBB steal because they think in the future,Nigeria will not remain one country, they get rich quick by oil money.
Here is your answer: Nigeria must honor the Aburi Accord, Revolution must first start with Nigerian citizens against poverty and although the North has acknowledged they are parasites and Lazy rats per their spokesgroup [Arewa] that's a start, they must now become less dependent and work hard just like the South.
If resolved, this ought to make Biafranigeria a strong nation. I swear.

HERE IS EQUAL JUSTICE, OR IS IT. THEY WILL EVEN KILL THEIR OWN KIND FOR MOHAMMAD .

Man killed in Kano for alleged blasphemy of prophet Muhammad
By Augustine Madu-West, Snr Correspondent, Kano
Residents in Kano woke up to yet another bizarre development on Tuesday, as a 50-year-old man was allegedly murdered in God's name. He was said to have made utterances that were considered to be blasphemous against Prophet Muhammad.

The tragic incident, which occurred at Sheka Aci Lafiya Quarters in Kano city, shook the area and overstretched police, who went extra miles to ensure that the situation did not degenerate to a full blown crisis.
Sources said the deceased whose identity was yet to be confirmed was allegedly attacked by a group of angry youths, who beat him to a state of coma leading to his death shortly after he was abandoned in his own pool of blood.
However, Police Public Relations Officer for Kano State Command, Baba Muhammad, said the man died while being taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, adding that police have since swung into action to track down those responsible for the murder, but said no arrest had been made.
The victim, though a Muslim was said to have made an uncomplimentary statement on Prophet Muhammad after he was allegedly denied his share of his late father's estates by relations.
"He was brutalised and left unconscious before the police arrived and disperse the rampaging youths, who took control of the environment to forestall further breakdown of law and order because the atmosphere was charged with some of the youths brandishing dangerous weapons and mobilising for further action", sources said
