This is truly the end of an era. Although Gates insists that he is not retiring, he departure will enable Microsoft to better compete with Google and others who capitalized on Gates's early mistake about the potential of the Internet.

It was Bill Gates's initial lack of interest in the Internet that left his MSN playing catch-up to Google and Yahoo when it comes Internet search engines. These days, I think msn search results a far more reliable than Google results, except in the area of image searches.

I am not very sure about searches that MSN produces. The basic fact is that MSN has nothing to analyse the credibilty of the websites. They are very new player in this field. They will still need some time to compete with Google and Yahoo in true sense.
