I can't believe it. This ain't right, at all. My eyes are drooping with tears right now in what the system is trying to do to this young man, Kobe Bryant. This really sucks:
quote:Kobe Brayant was charged with felony sexual assault by the Eagle County, Colorado prosecutor on Friday. Bryant is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year old woman at a hotel on June 30. If convicted, Bryant could face up to life in prison. The trial is set to begin on August 6.

I just finished listening to the Colorado prosecutor. He strikes me as a racist white bastard out to punish one more Black star. Kobe Bryant should get himself a good lawyer and shred that bitch to pieces for what she is trying to do. Posts: 366 | Registered: Mar 2001

This truly is sad. Such a young promising talent. I wonder what's going on in the boardrooms of Coca-Cola, McDonalds, and Nike at the moment. I pray he be exonerated, at least in the court of law. We all know that the persona is torn forever. Goodbye to the clean cut, responsible Kobe. Welcome to NBA's Kobe.

This is very troublesome news indeed. It just goes to show that none is perfect.... no, not one. It is very unfortunate that a young happily married man with a new bouncing baby girl would succumb to such a temptation. All the same, he did the honorable thing in admitting that he had sexual relations with that 19 year old. Who knows, peradventure that might help ensure that he does not get a disproportionate comeuppance for such a manifestly reckless behavior.
Once again, the lesson here is that the law is and should be no respecter of personsbe you a janitor, a congressman, a super athlete, a tinsel-town tin-god or the president!
By virtue of his status in the society, I find it difficult to believe that Kobe would be incarcerated for years however. Spare your tears TB. I highly suspect that for whatever reasons this lawsuit was slapped on him (financial or otherwise), the overarching desire, save for the insatiable lust of that media-crazy teenager for cheap publicity, must have been a perverse wish to tarnish the image and reputation of yet another powerful BLACK sports superstar. It is to this end that I feel some element of pity for Kobe irrespective of his grievous act of adultery.
What language are you speaking men, please write 9th grade english. DIdn't they teach you that in college?
Anyways, I never liked that doo and you can tell that he was fake. I like guys like the answer. If you have a lot of money, keep your dick in check. If you got a wife, keep your dick in check too. Kobe fucked up and too late for the crocodile tears. Time to pay buddy. Tyson is laughing his head off somewhere.

More on the Kobe saga. It's getting interesting. It looks like the Spurs will repeat as NBA champs.
quote:By Michael Cacioppo, Pres. SpeakoutVail, Inc. - LOS ANGELES (allegedly) An alleged witness to the Kobe Bryant alleged rape of a 19-year-old Eagle woman wrote Speakout! that Kobe Bryant was heard calling the alleged victim a white bitch. A person identifying themselves with a female name (Speakout! is withholding the name) wrote Wednesday, July 23rd, I was upstairs of Kobe and I heard him shout, among other things over 23 minutes, ...white Bitch... Does that constitute a hate crime? Can he be put away for 14 years in (the) Federal Penitentiary? Speakout! responded to the email by asking for the writers phone number, allegedly in Los Angeles, but was emailed back, (Name withheld) won't let me tell. I was born in (country withheld) and grew up in US. I have faced racism all my life. When we heard Kobe saying ...White Bitch... I knew something was going on. (Name withheld) won't let me talk about it because our careers (careers withheld) are in danger. I just couldn't let this go. It hurt me so much. Speakout! then contacted Gerry Engle, a partner at Cordillera, the hotel that Bryant stayed at on June 30th, the night of the alleged sexual assault. Engle was asked if Speakout! could view a list of names of guests staying at the resort on June 30th, in order to verify if the emailer was actually staying at the hotel that day. We can never verify a guest name in the hotel because that and service are the number one rule in hospitality, Engle stated. Speakout! responded that his answer was understandable. A minute after Speakout! received the email declining to give Speakout! a phone number, Speakout! received another email from the alleged witness which said, It's definitely a Federal case. Also, at 3am this morning (July 25th), another email was received by Speakout! saying, I cannot tell you any more, (name withheld) my boyfriend and I are fighting about this. He thinks it will destroy our careers.

USA Today contributing columnist Susan Estrich gives an account of her own spellbinding personal experience when she was raped nearly thirty years ago. A replica of its past has resurfaced in Koby's case. Quite fascinating as she notes:
quote:In the years since I was raped, almost every state in the country, including Colorado, passed rape shield laws to protect victims from a second, unnecessary humiliation. Courts and legislatures redefined the crime to eliminate the requirement that women resist to the utmost to prove non-consent. "No" nolonger means "yes" as a matter of law.

Based on Colorado's tough laws on rape, Kobe Bryant will be lucky to excape jail time in the all white Eagle, Colorado. According to USA Today,
quote:if convicted, Bryant, 24, could go to prison for four years to life, even as a first offender with no criminal past. Probation alone would last a minimum of 20 years. Lifetime supervision would be possible. Either sentence would include a state-required management program that evaluates convicted sex offenders with lie detectors and the plethysmograph, a device that measures arousal patterns.
Now, this is prety serious stuff and when you look at Dallas Mavericks' owner Mark Cuban who thinks Kobe's case is a commercial success for the NBA, notes:
quote:From a business perspective, it's great for NBA. It's reality television, people love train wreck television and you hate to admit it.
And talking about "train wreck television," Kobe do not want cameras in the courtroom. What's going on here?: What is Kobe scared of?

Kobe Bryant was in court today and with his preliminary hearing set for Oct 6,
quote:ABC News was also told examiners found evidence that the alleged victim had "vaginal tearing." Prosecutors could argue this is not consistent with consensual sex. Experts say the defense could rebut this in several ways, including that vaginal tearing could be sustained during consensual sex, or was not incurred during sex with Bryant.
Expect more legal jargons as the trial progresses and I do hope our legal experts in this forum would provide us with detailed analysis of the proceedings.
