PRESS RELEASE
THE UNLAWFUL, UNCIVILIZED, BARBARIC & ARCHAIC ARREST AND DETENTION OF BARRISTER UCHE OKWUKWU
After the meeting of the above named coalition, we condemn in its all entirety the unlawful, barbaric and archaic arrest and detention of Barrister Uche Okwukwu at Abuja by the State Security Services (SSS), we frown at it and declare as follows:-
1. That the manner of arrest of Barr. Uche Okwukwu as he went to discharge his legal duties for the Leader of the Niger Delta Peoples Volunteer Force, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari is Barbaric, uncivilised, unconstitutional and unacceptable to us.
2. That his quizzing by the SSS from the Police Headquarters to an unknown destination till now is both provoking, insulting and shall be marched with action all over the Niger Delta, Igboland and Ikwerre Land as a whole.
3. That we demand the immediate release of both Barrister Uche Okwukwu and Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo-Asari unconditionally and without any further delay.
4. That we are running out of patience with the delay in the release of the two amiable leaders of our various movements and may not condole any further delay as such demand that, shall 24 hours elapse without their release the whole of the former Eastern Region shall be made ungovernable.
5. That in the interest of peace and Order and in order not to further heat-up the already heated situation on ground in the Niger Delta and Port Harcourt in particular, Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo should cause the Police and SSS to release the twosome without any further delay.
6. That the further detention and interrogation of Barrister Uche Okwukwu and Alhaji Dokubo -Asari will not be taken lightly if they are further incarcerated.
To be fore warning is to be fore arm, Enough is Enough.
