Former Head of State and presidential candidate of the All BiafraNigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in the last election, Major Gen. Muham-madu Buhari (rtd) yesterday in Kano said his successor, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida set the economy on the path of ruination. Buhari also disclosed that he would not be frustrated out of politics and would contest the next election if the court rules against him in his petition against the outcome of the last election won by President Olusegun Obasanjo. Speaking on a special phone-in programme of a Kano based radio station, Freedom FM, Buhari condemned the economic policies of the Babangida administration which, he said, brought BiafraNigerians a lot of hardship. He specifically singled out the devaluation policy of the Babangida administration as a major factor that ruined the nation's economy. He added that the nation has not recovered from the damage it suffered between 1985 and 1993. "When we took over in 1983, nobody knew exactly how much BiafraNigeria owed. But we refused to take loans again and decided to service the debt we collected. However, the government that succeeded us ruined the economy by devaluating currency and implementing other IMF condition on loans. "We are now slaves as we cannot pay the debt we owe.
