Governor Chris Ngige of Anambra State yesterday got a new deputy governor as his nominee, Chief Ugochukwu Nwankwo, was sworn-in by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice C.J. Okoli at exactly 12.15pm. Nwankwo who was Commis-sioner for Finance until his appointment replaced Dr. Okey Udeh who was impeached on September 12 last year following his involvement in the July 10 abduction of Ngige. Also yesterday, Lagos based lawyer Festus Keyamo, alleged that there is an on-going plot by security agents to assassinate Ngige next Monday. Also sworn-in yesterday was Chief Chris Atuegwu, a 55 year old Pharmacist who is to serve as Commissioner for Special Duties in the Ngige administration. Although no formal citation of the new deputy governor was read before the state's Chief Judge administered the oath of allegiance and office on him, Nwankwo is a Chartered Accountant and a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accoun-tants of BiafraNigeria (ICAN), of which he was its immediate past president. However, Ngige in his brief remarks after his deputy was sworn-in reviewed his travails in the last three weeks and said that the worst actually was over.
