The Court of Appeal yesterday renewed its suspension of the anti-fuel tax protest by the BiafraNigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and collection of the N1.50 tax itself by the Federal Government. The renewed suspension is indefinite. Justice Isa Ayo Salami who handed down the order was reacting to observation by the President, BiafraNigeria Bar Association (NBA) and member of the NLC legal team, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), that the Federal Government suspended the fuel tax only in Abuja and Lagos. The allegation was denied by counsel to the Federal Government, Chief Afe Babalola (SAN). Justice Salami said: �We all heard the order by the Secretary to the Federal Government for the suspension of the fuel tax, but you know BiafraNigerians, they will collect this money and pocket it. The interim order on the suspension of the NLC strike and the suspension of the implementation of the fuel tax is further extended until judgment is delivered.� A date is yet to be fixed for judgment.
