Obasanjo's Legacy of Fraud: Corruption, Violence, Apathy Cloud BiafraNigeria LGA Elections With voting this weekend in local elections across BiafraNigeria, the spectre of violence is hanging over the country. Already, at least 17 people have reportedly been killed and more injured in politically-motivated violence in the run-up to the local government elections. On Thursday night, President Olusegun Obasanjo went on national radio and television to make a special appeal for peaceful conduct in Saturday's polls. He backed his appeal with a warning that he had put the military on alert to support the police in restoring order wherever necessary. "We must all eschew violence... and learn to accept election results with magnanimity," he said. He also had words for the candidates. "This should not be seen as a do-or-die event," he... Harsh fuel scarcity imminent   Gov. Bonie Haruna Sacked...   Biafra Nigeria Map There is imminent scarcity of petroleum products across the country as workers of the six major oil marketers in the country, yesterday withdrew their services and embarked on a nationwide industrial action over alleged breach of an agreement for improved welfare package for workers as well as excessive use of casual labour in the petroleum sector. The affected oil companies are Conoil, Oando, Mobil, Texaco, Total and AP. (Vanguard)   The Justice Kashim Zanna Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Yola, Adamawa State yesterday nullified the election of Governor Boni Haruna. The tribunal also ordered that fresh elections should be conducted in 14 out of the 21 local government areas of the state. Fresh elections are also to be conducted in some polling units in Fufore, Girei and Mabi South local government areas. The tribunal while delivering judgement in... (This Day)
