In a dramatic twist to a case involving Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori vs Goodnews Agbi and Anthony Alabi, one Shuaibu Anyebe in a sworn affidavit yesterday at an Abuja High Court claimed he was convicted by the Upper Area Court, Bwari the same day the same court convicted one James Onanefe Ibori. He also denied granting any media interview where he was quoted as saying that he and not James Onanefe Ibori was convicted. THISDAY had on March 10 reported (see story and photo on P4) that Anyebe said he was the one convicted by Bwari Upper Area Court in 1995 for negligent conduct and criminal breach of trust. Anyebe who THISDAY interviewed - on tape - at his Bwari residence said he was convicted for the loss of asbestos zinc sometime in 1995, fined N10,000 and dismissed from the service of Abuja Municipal Council. Anyebe as well as the police officer that investigated the case and declared that no James Onanefe Ibori was convicted had told THISDAY that they had been under tremendous pressure with all kinds of inducement to implicate the Delta State governor.
