It's very unfortunate your Redskin's Steve Spurrier could not do what he was hired for as he did for the University of Florida for 12 seasons. Instead of swaggering, the Redskins winced during Spurrier's tenure. Could it be the pro and college football somehow differ?
Redskins ranked 23rd offensively this season with an average of 291 yards a game. Poor performance.
The Redskins couldn't protect their quarterback, so the teams passing attack never got off the ground. A 12-20 record with a 2-10 mark in NFC East games compared to his 122-27-1 Florida teams which won the national championship in 1997 was a remarkable difference.
Bet your money on Donovan McNabb's Philadelphia Eagles.

Mojo Long don't bet the farm on the eagles yet, new England look good, with Cold weather in Boston in january and home field advantage they could be hard to beat, on the other eagle have proven that home field for them is not always a safe bet.

Of course, New England looks good especially when they secured the top seeding in the AFC playoffs avenging an embarrassing loss to the Buffalo Bill on Saturday. In a game of strange coincidences, the Patriots won, 31-0, behind Tom Brady's four touchdown passes in the first half and the defense's third shutout in four games.
But with the Eagles guaranteed week off, Donovan is ready to take on even though running back and return man Brian Westbrook suffering an injury that might need longer to heal. Equally Philadelphia has home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. With Westbrook out, Eagles has options with Duce Staley and Correl Buckhalter who have shared the tailback spot with Westbrook.
I still believe in the Eagles because this is Donovan McNabb's year. Patriots (14-2) record is a big challenge to Eagles (12-4), though. Count on the Eagles and never mind the turf in New England, my brother!

Steve Mcneal is not healthy with a defensive team like Baltmore and the best rushing back in 2003. Baltimore over Tennessee.
DALLAS AT CAROLINA
While Dallas have a statement to make with the Big tuna, Carolina Panthers are the most improved team, offensive and defensive. Two years ego, Panthers were the worst team in NFL averaging only 10,000 or less seats. This time Caroliners have a lot to celebrate and cheer for their home team. Panthers over Dallas.
SUNDAY WILD CARD
SEATTLE AT GREENBAY Seattle is one of the most improved team in 2003 but with Bret Favre high lifted with the death of his father, spiritually and with great faith, Seattle will succumb to Greenbay.
DENVER AT INDIANAPOLIS The Colts should remember what happened to them last week against the Broncos. This time, one lesson in NFL is a lesson too many. The Colts will revenge this one . Denver played their guts out for wild card slot, this time the table is against them, with Manning likely to win the MVP enough motivation to die and win the game otherwise, he is nothing but....... Colts over Broncos.

JOE GIBBS, who has been unsuccessful in Fast Car racing business since retired is returning to the club. Snyder thinks that Joe Gibbs, former Red Skins coach is best qualified to revive the team, possibly to the super Bowl. Joe Gibbs, won the Super Bowl with Doug Williams[African American quarterback]now Grambling coach against John Elway's Broncos in the 80's. By reinstating Joe Gibbs, Snyder avoids interviewing other minority candidates for the position. NFL policy mandates that minorities, including African Americans, American Indians, Hispanics and Asians be interviewed for any coaching position in the league.

The situation that my Redskins finds itself in is so depressing that I don't care if we hire a coach from Mars. Frankly, I was hoping that the Sirit Rover now probing the surface of Mars would bring back something to help us out. We simply have to bring the Superbowl championship back to Washington.
Joe Gibbs took the Redskins to four Superbowls and he won three of them. Those victories were some of the reasons that the Skins was rated one of the best teams of the last century. We want the Vince Lombardi Trophy and a Superbowl Parade in DC, and if Joe Gibbs will make that happen, then to hell with anything else. After all, Joe Gibbs was the coach when the Black Quarterback, Doug Williams, shattered Superbowl records in the defeat of John Elway and his Denver Broncos.
Mojo:
I hear you. Even in the days when only the truly great teams won the Superbowl, Philadelphia, under Randall Cunningham, always gave a good account of itself. I will not be disappointed if the Eagles won.

In as much as the two play makers of the TITANS, Mcneal and George are not healthy, their offense if meassured with the Patriots is above average. Patriots despite a winning record in 2003, have not performed that well defensively and offensively unlike the 2002 Patriots. This will be a very low score but in the end the TITANS gets the edge if both play makers will play with shear guts and pain. OFFENSE OVER DEFENSE
EAGLES VS PACKERS .
Bret Favre has the tendency to take risk[INT] but in the long run it sometimes pays off for his team. The Eagles won the last time they met not by default but Bret's mistakes and his tendency to go deep.Although the Eagles have lost their best play maker Westbrooke, I expect Mcnnab to take over the offense. The Key to Eagles victory is for Mcnnab to run, throw and disorganize the packers defensive strategy. If Mcnnab rely on throwing the ball, they can forget the game. Bret favre is just as good as running/throwing the ball and has proven to be the minute man in many occassions. But the Eagles have one of the defensive team in the league. The key here is Mcnnab if he runs, Eagles over the Packers. MCNNAB OVER FAVRE
RAMS VS PANTHERS .
Bulger has thrown too many INTs that I sometimes wonder why he has not been replaced. He has the worst INT in 2003, although he sometimes has proven to be on the money. The Rams is an offensive team but not enough to scare the Panthers. The Panthers have one the best defense in the league. Look for the Panthers to hassle Bulger and force him to throw in a hurry. Although the Rams have a home field advantage, victory is for the Panthers if they can stick to solid defense. Panthers Over Rams. DEFENSE OVER OFFENSE
CHIEFS VS COLTS
This year the Colts did not have much defensive team like last year, not to say their defense is not as good but they have relied more on Paton Manning. kansas are good team with slightly above average defense and good special team but nothing to be afraid of. The Colts key to victory is Manning. In order for them to win this game, Manning must be given enough protection like last week to throw the ball. If the Colts fails to protect their quarterback, then they can forget victory in Kansas. Manning must make good plays to assure victory.I give the edge to the Colts and much of the victory from Manning. OFFENSE OVER DEFENSE Hail Biafra

You are the man! Now, we know who is in the fabulous four. Any calls for NFC and AFC championships? I will wait for the results before I guess on the Superbowl.

Since we are doing a lot of guess work here, Id do the same.
Eagles Vs Panthers:
This would be the third straight year that the Eagles made it to the divisional championship game. In 2001 and 2002, they lost to the Rams and the Bucs respectively. The last time a team lost three consecutive divisional championship game was in 1981 or thereabouts with the Dallas Cowboys. It seems that McNabbs contribution to the Eagles offensive line cannot be wished away after all. He has been a motivator. Throw in the confidence of playing before a home crowd and the ability to make big plays when they are most crucial and you can picture the Eagles soaring over the Panthers. Go Philly.
Patriots Vs Colts:
Peyton Manning and the Colts are on fire. After witnessing what they have done in their two playoff games, I have little doubts in my mind that they would repeat it in Patriot country. The last time these two met, the Colts almost got the victory from the last play in the last minutes had it not been for the stout defense that stopped Edgarrin James at the one. Now, I expect the Colts to upset the Patriots if they keep up their delightful free-flowing offense and improved a little on their defense. Tis time to ride with Peyton Manning and the irrepressible Colts right into the Superbowl.
I'm going to rely on your picks in my bets. 10-1 and you get 1/8. How about that?

It was probably, the most exciting weekend of football performances in history.Defense over Offense or slightly, a combination of both. None of the teams failed to live up to expectations. The weekend was public television at it's best, sports that is. You damn right, I was glued from the start, armed with my remote control between ESPN, Fox and CBS. ESPN was the only network that predicted Panther victory.
Peyton Manning was indeed awe and spectacular, the panthers as predicted proved more potent in defense as the most improved team in 2003, minus the Dallas Cowboys, and of course, Mcnnab showed us what leadership should be, when called to do so. He turned water into wine, bitterness into sweetness, sorry start to classical end. What more can we expect this weekned? You can expect lots of bump, trail of tears, bruises, soar, excitement and bone crushing for two spots in the Super bowl.Last weekend is now a bygone classic. We know that only two teams will make it. But who?
Stay tune this Friday for analysis of your team, strenght and weaknesses.

A sad story for one BiafraNigerian's native born. Yinka Dare died a sudden death last week. If you remember, Yinka was NBA 14th pick by the Nets based on his performance in NCAA basketball. However, since turning pro, he has not been able to perform to NBA level. He was benched several times for failure to produce, placed in injury list, again placed back as starter and again was benched. His average score for 24 minutes was below NBA .Yinka died having finished cooking his native dish. A sad story indeed. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE

Yinka Dare's problem in the NBA was he came out from College so soon, His case should a case study why certain College atheletes should not jump to pro so soon after just one or two years of College sports. Had Yinka Dare spend two more year at George washington University, he would have been more equiped to handle NBA.

Actually, Yinka was having a heart problem while he was in college and before he turned pro. I have to disagree with you not in disobedence with your thought. But his sudden death was not in no way, a result of his jumping college to become a pro. And research has not shown that high school students [teens] who turns pro tend have shorter life expectancy than their adult college pros. Besides, it is too early. We have only had a handful of the distinguished club members, from Moses Molone to Cleveland Phenom.
I will probably lean towards a heart disease as the basis for the suden death, not to rule out jumping college at tender age as one of many underlying factors. Akin Olajuwon suffered slightly the same problem but not as death wish and probably not as congenital as Yinka Dare. As a matter of fact, Akin took off for several weeks because of irregular heart breathing.

We already have a thread about Yinka's passing on the sports section.
For the NFL playoff games, I was not a very happy camper when Titans lost but I did pick Colts and still pick then to make it to the big game. Your friend Limbough was at it again today with his characterization of Mcnabb as a fullback not a QB. He called him a college type option QB who will never win the Super Bowl. What an asssholed drug abuser.

The Eagles and Panthers meets on Sunday to decide one spot to the Super Bowl. Last week, Donnavan Mcnab showed that actually he is not an over rated [Rush thinking]. But the question is, will he repeat the same performance again this week? He must, if he wants to win. Donnavan is the only play maker in the Eagles squad. The Eagles do not have great wide recievers. Thrash and company do not have the speed and have maintained one style of running. The Eagles only hopeville is the quarterback/option. He must be protected against the monstrous/rushing defense of the Panthers for him to run the option and make plays. The wide recievers must find a way to stay open for Mcnnab to make great plays.
The Panthers as we said last week are the most improved team and probably the best defensive team in 2003. Frankly, the defense has proven that in the last 3 games. The key to panthers victory is the defensive penetration and sacking Mcnnab. If they can rush Mcnnab and force him throw in a hurry and keep a low score, they definitely have a chance. Delhound is not the best quarterback in the league, he is an opportunist if given a chance. Eagles must rush and pressure him to make bad throws. Because of home field advantage, Mcnnab [Eagles/offense] over Panthers/defense.
COLTS AND PATRIOTS :
The Colts are the underdog based on statistics but hot in offense. The Patriots will have to find a way to stop Peyton Manning. If the Colts play the way the played last week the victory is theirs. This game will be determined by Peyton Manning offense over Partiots defense. The Patriots have not played that well this season even though they are 9/0 at home but with a rejuvenated Colts offense, this game is a dogfight.
I pick the Colts over the Patriots because of their ravishing offense. The Colts don't necessarily have the best defense but have enough to fense out the Patriots. For the Colts to win this game, they will have to dogfight the Patriots defense. This game will be urgly because they are in a bad neighborhood with a 9/0 team at home. Yes, it is going to be hard but the Colts are prepared for it. Colts over Patriots based on collective effort, last performace by Peyton Manning and the wide receivers

Kunle: If you read my analysis, my pick was quite sentimental. It was only Yvette, who read in between the lines, despite her lust for sloopy seconds, picked New England. My take for the victor is for you to read with sound mind before you pick. Para Example, "Mcnnab is the only play maker in the Eagles team, they do not have good receivers" and New England [9/0] have never lost in their neighborhood". Read the key words then make your pick. Copy?

I cpmpletely agree with you, Mccnab is the only play maker for eagles, they lack speedy receivers, and their defense sucked. As for colts Tony Dungy needs two more years get his defensive stamp on the colts, that is if Manning still retain some resemblance good passing game without throwing to opposing cornerbacks.
