THE ROAD TO MARCH MADNESS:

The wild Cats of Kentucky is all about the Fab 4. Azubuike, Hayes, Morris and Sparks. Azubuike a Biafra/Nigerian born American may have to play under duress. The star player's father, Mr. Kenneth Azubuike is due to be sentenced in the Federal court after being found guilty in Tulsa, Oklahoma in November for defrauding investors of millions. Kelenna, the star player has appealed to the news media to avoid asking questions about his father's legal problem. We can only hope that the gentle man serves his term and come out a better person. Kudos to young Azubuike for courage under fire and our prayers for greater strenght.

Here we go again. In the 90's it was the giant from Christian Sudan, Menute Bol. Here comes another giant from the same country and with Christian faith. Gai could be heading to the NBA because he is destined to be better than Shaquille O'neal. Gai a native of Sudan fled the satanic nation after having learned that he will be forced to convert to moslem and fight his christian brothers and sisters. He chosed a civilized faith over satanic faith. You will be hearing more about him in the future. Gai is a free man now. We wish him well. You go Gai.

March Mardness and you wonder why they call it that?

Who will be this year's Cinderalla Team? This Thursday the real madness begins. Find out why attending education in American Universities is not boring but fun, fun, fun, fun and more fun with academics. You be the judge. I'm sure you will have fun watching the games.

Did you by any chance call this game? I just watched Mich. State put away UK in double OT. For those of us in the East Coast, it was worth delaying CBS's 60 Minutes by a whole hour.

Go Michigan State.

You wonder why they call it March Madness? Quite a game, I must say. I watched the game though I was rooting for the Wildcats. The two hostest team now is North Carolina, Illinios and Michigan. I consider LSU a cinderalla team although Rick is a legend. Watch out for my prediction this week.

There's more than 3s in the Cards' deck
Posted: March 28, 2005

Louisville can run and gun with anyone and score in a flurry on long-range shots. But a couple of 245-pound heavyweights are just as crucial to the Cardinals as their perimeter prowess. To borrow from the city's most famous native lip, Muhammad Ali, these Cardinals do a lot more than float like butterflies and sting with 3s.

Roommates Ellis Myles and Juan Palacios give the Cardinals plenty of inside muscle. Coach Rick Pitino says the Cardinals' NCAA Tournament run has gotten the daunting duo noticed.

"The more you win, the more people realize who Ellis is and how he's the key to the team and the more they realize what a terrific freshman (Palacios) is," he says.

Myles, a senior, realizes that now is his time to take charge. "Establishing a physical presence opens up everything else we do," he says. "Every team needs that, and that's what I do."

He also has helped teach Palacios to play more physically. Palacios admits he wasn't taking full advantage of his size and strength early in the season, when he was adjusting from being a high school star who simply was taller than everyone else. "At the beginning, I saw I wasn't playing as strong as Ellis was playing," he says. "He taught me how to use my body."

When Myles or Palacios isn't in the game, 6-8 senior forward Otis George can provide a key rebound, block, screen or pick. His contributions have solidified the Cardinals' inside rotation and helped intimidate opponents.

"It looks like they're fullbacks or linebackers out there," says West Virginia forward Mike Gansey, whose team lost to Louisville in the regional final. "When there's a shot up and you don't put a body on them, they are going to get it back every time."

The Cardinals' improved aggressiveness and rugged play have allowed them to make progress on the boards -- an area Pitino challenged the team to shore up in the tournament. "(The rebounding) really picked up, and it's really enabled us to be a good defensive team," Pitino says.

The Cardinals' offensive star, swingman Francisco Garcia, appreciates the dirty work that helps him, Taquan Dean and Larry O'Bannon get such consistently favorable looks from behind the 3-point line. If Myles and Palacios aren't in position to make easy baskets when opponents focus their defense on the outside, both have the big, soft hands needed to catch the ball and deliver it back to open shooters.

"You look at those guys; they're such smart players," Garcia says. "They do the right things away from the rim. We have confidence in what they do inside, and they're also important to our offense with their passing ability."

Ednut, it is called an oversight or error.

Now, I was not chanced to make my predictions before the weekend but I have always picked Illinois for the finals. Today's game is a clash of the Titans between #1. My prediction is that Illinois will be crowned the NCAA champ. This is their time. It will be a close game and entertaining also.

Today is gonna be the Longhorn's day at the Rose in Pasadena.
WE ARE TEXAS.
quote:
This is the one you've been waiting for and talking about all season. And so have I. If you check out ol' Terry's Yahoo! Sports archive, you'll see I predicted Texas to make it back to the Rose Bowl and win it again on Aug. 16 (assuming it won at Ohio State).

A lot of you laughed at me. I've still got the emails from folks ripping me for my faith in Vince Young.

But I'm not off the hook. Now I have to explain why I picked Texas to win this game 4 months ago. And after having seen USC's last seven games, I have a hard time seeing how the Trojans are going to lose.

There's a reason some people are calling this the most anticipated game ever. It features some of the best matchups in recent memory. For starters, we have the last two Heisman Trophy winners and this year's runner-up, not to mention a lot of future NFL stars.

These are by far the two best offenses in the country. Both average at least 50 points per game. That's almost illegal.

However, as I (and others) have said and written countless times, defense wins championships. Texas clearly will have the best defense on this field, and that will be the difference.

USC has not played anybody nearly as strong on defense as the Longhorns. California was ranked 26th in the nation in scoring defense and held the Trojans to 35. Texas ranks fifth (USC is 27th).

As you know, I have been wrong before. And if I am this time, it will be because of the other key statistic (besides scoring defense) that often determines champions turnover margin. And guess who leads the nation in that? USC.

But the way I look at it Texas is going to hold the Trojans in the low 30s, while at the same time putting up a couple of more points on offense. I know it sounds strange to say "hold them to 32 points," but with these two offenses it's a fair statement.

Texas should close this thing out at around 35-32, winning with a late touchdown or field goal.

And it will be the classic everyone is hoping for.

Pick: Longhorns 35, Trojans 32

The problem with Long Horn is that they have one star player...the Quarter Back. The advantage with USC is that they have good track records in championship games and have more than one star player. Advantage USC over Cow Town university, Long Horns.

So they both cancel each other out, although TEXAS averages 51 points per game to USC's 50.

The Trojan's defense is ranked 27th nationally and the Longhorns are 5th. And I am talking about fast asss West African genes here with some Houston Swager.

Congratulations Ed! You said it; you predicted the outcome even before the whistle was blown. YOU'RE DA MAN!! Score: Ed, 3 for the three whose predictions zoomed off, LOL; score for them, a big nil!

Gentlemen, I've no use for American college "football" for the simple reason that they're more out of control most of the times and painfully boring to me but had to endure the pain of watching it based on the hoopla raised here yesterday. By the way, how can this be called "football" when the damn thing is carried or being hugged 95% of the time? I guess the song "come and see America wonder" is appropriate here. Who the hell is that Regie Bush? The young man to me is over appraised, he blew it for USC, my opinion. Now back to more important issue, how to get the hell away from the dungeon known also as nigaria as the Romanians would say.

Ok. This Older lady that has an office next to mine brought her Chronicles to my office and wanted to know who the black guy was? I told her that she was looking at Vince Young. She said, " And he is black and the quaterback? I thought Vince Young was white" I just looked at her but told her that he looks black to me but that I haven't had my coffee yet.

That is TEXAS for you.

MeB, College football is great and can be better than the pros. I have young nephews who are college football players at Rice and Houston and it was nice to watch the game with them and their dad who like you, have little understanding of the game.

This weekend prepare to BBQ and get ready for second leg of NFL Playoff Games:

SATURDAY

PATRIOTS AT BRONCOS [8:00 P.M.]

REDSKINS AT SEAHWAKS [4:20 P.M.]

SUNDAY

STEELERS AT COLTS [1:00 P.M.

PANTHERS AT BEARS [4;30 PM.]

MY PICK

For the redskins to win over the Seahawks they will have to improve in their defense. Last week was a lucky escape--->. advantage Seahawks

Patriots have only managed to make it to the playoff. We now know that they are penetrable and the quarterback is also vunerable. But this time the game is played in Mile High Stadium not in Gillette Stadium.Mile High has the worst home crowd in NFL with the noise level of a Rock concert. The Broncos have played awesome this year, this is their time.-----> Advantage Broncos at Mile High Stadium

The game between Steelers and the Colts will be a hard one. The only way the Colts will win this game is offense. Manning will have to avoid blizt from the Steelers and if he does, advantage Colts

Chicago over Panthers. If the Bears defense plays as hard as they have been advantage the Bears .

I cannot believe your obsession with men running with the ball, being told to run by a coach who is outside the pitch. The ball is not even round.

Real men play football. Soccer to you yanks!

BTW; I will root for the skins tonight (it is on sky at 21:00 GMT here) lest my friend kills me, problem is how do I know that the skins have scored?

Hahahahahahahahaha. I know how you feel. Your best bet would be to watch for any sign of excitement from the Redskins players or their fans. [Roll 2]

Well, the simple aim of this sport is for one team to move that pigskin(ball) to their opponent's backfield. This area is clearly marked. You would normally see the hometeam's name on that portion of the field. For this game, you will see the word "Seahawks" on the endzone/backfield/touchdown area for both teams.

There are two main ways of scoring. There is the touchdown and the field goal. If a Skins player manages to carry/run the ball to the Seahawks' backfield(endzone) without getting forcefully tackled, dragged down, pushed out of bounds or stopped through whatever acceptable 'violent' method, then that Skins player would have scored a touchdown. That will give them 6 points on the board. They get an ooportunity to kick the ball through the uprights at the end of their opponent's endzone for an additional point, or try to repeat the same touchdown move for an additional 2 points.

Sometimes, the opposing team is so strong that they can't allow you to get to their endzone. By the way, the sole aim of the opposing team is to stop you from running that ball into their endzone. As you already know, that can make for some really violent activity. If you are unable to put the ball in the endzone after 3 spikes or attempts, the coaching staff or the quarterback (the man throwing the ball) could call for a final attempt to get some more yards (4th down) OR they could beckon on the field goal unit. A kicker is then simply required to kick the ball in between the uprights depending on your team's proximity to the endzone. If your kicker is able to kick the ball in between the uprights, then he has kicked a field goal. Your team gets 3 points on the board.

The ball switches to the opposing team's possession whenever a touchdown or a field goal is scored. And the same thing happens all over again. [Smile]

I don't know if there is a Seattle Seahawks fan on this board. You might as well cheer for the Redskins if not for your friend, then for one BNWite (Damian) who has indicated that he is also a Redskins fan. [Big Grin]

Happy Viewing.

Thanks Anaedo for kindly explaining this game to me. I still have 2 more questions;

1 You wrote
quote:
whatever acceptable 'violent' method..

My question is this, short of 1 player bringing down his opponent with a 50 calibre machine gun, are there other non acceptable ways of bringing down an opponent.

2) How come a game of 80 minutes can last for four hours?

Thank you once again.

Oops, I am heading to a tv to watch the game as i type, so this will be very brief:)

1) One unacceptable way of bringing down an opponent is by grabbing his helmet and/or forcefully pulling him down.

2) The time-outs they take to strategize, move different units around ( ie, shuffle between the punting unit, the kicking team, the offense, the defense and the special teams) is responsible for this game lasting up to 3 hours or more. Remember, these professionals have to get a breather every now and then. Ya know, to get that towel for the intense perspiration, to get that cold cup of water or gatorade, to rest that slightly injured knee, or whatever.

Besides, the clock is not continuous. It can be stopped. It is not like soccer where the time runs on even when there is an injury and someone is being carted off the field. The Quarterback can halt the play clock. That also helps to drag the game on longer than the time one would ordinarily expect the game to be played.

But my brother, even me wey dey talk, i no sabi all the rules and regulations jare. LOL, i wouldn't be surprised if there is indeed a handbook for NFL rules. I think there is one.

This is as basic as it comes.

What an excellent crash course on football. Don't mind Wacko. I have it on good authority that "his friends" will not spare him, now that the Skins have been eliminated.

On to Steelers v. Colts.

2 down, 2 more to go before the playoffs takes a good shape for the Sup...

Yesterday proved that defense is the best offense. It was reflected in win over New England and the Skins by special teams and defense ministers.

....again, Chicago does not have a very good offense; their defense is the key. However, the Panthers may counter that because they will be playing to redeem themselves from the 8 sacks pepertuated by Chicago defense on their quarterback during the regular reason. The Bears won that game and it propelled them as number one defense in NFL. If Chicago plays strong defense as in regular season; advantage Chicago.

On the other hand, the Colts victory will be endorsed and sanctioned by the combination of defense and offense led by their leader, Manning. Forget they lost two games, compounded by the the death of the coache's son'; they are re-energized, rested and focused. Manning must avoid that blitz by the bigger Steelers. Advantage the Colts.

Get your bud, miller light, favorite beer, red or white wine with the combination of sousage, BBQ, chic/ribs,chips and peanuts; that's fun and that ought to make the game enjoyable.

American Football is not for the weak heart. American football beats soccer in my book.

Well, here we go again. Last weekend the Colts and the Bears lost, despite home field advantage. They were predicted to win the games. Manning now has two monkies in his back, he probably can't win the "Big" games, he strugguled against the Patriots and now the Steelers. The blitz was too much for Manning.

Who will make it to the Sup this weekend.

The Broncos and Steelers or the Seahawks and the Panthers.

My PicK: Panthers over the Seahawks...with the way the Steelers are playing, I might as well pick them to win in Mile High.

Well done Steelers! and hard luck Panthers. The Seahawks crushed the Panthers.Panthers appeared to have given up the game in the third quarter with INTs. The Broncos lost because they played like college students; the the defense was less aggressive and the offense ran out of gas and options. Steelers, ranked number 6 in NFL, played like warriors with lots of blitz against Denver quarterback to win the division. Kudos.

The Sup is set.-----> check out my Pic for the Super Bowl.

Nonsense. Again without a black coach or quarterback that game is a must miss for me Plus no TEXAS teams on it. I like the AFC team. NFC is just too soft.

Well Ednut, if color has anything to do with, statistics shows that African American coaches in NFL did better than the white coaches in 2005.
Be patient my boy, time will tell. The Steelers coach tried several times, even invented Kodell Stewart Slash/quarterback in the 90's; it appears that his time has finally come. By the way some coaching vacancies is still open.Take heart my boy.

This weekend, the Super Bowl will be played in Detriot. It is the most watched television in our adopted and beloveth country and crime is usually high, mostly crime against women and children.[domestic voilence]
The ticket for the game is selling for $2,200.00. But if you're going to watch it at home and you're already bought your bud light, ballpack, Miller light, drumsticks and pork chops, good call, you're set for the game, have some few friends and make it American.

If you pick the Steelers to win the Sup, you may be right and if you pick the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl 40, you're probably right, any which way but loose.
The Seahawks have never been to the Super Bowl, except coach Mike who coached the Greenbay Packers before moving to Seahawks. The Steelers have won and been to the Super Bowl more than twice hence the Steel Curtain but they have never won it under the current coach who has pulled every tricks in the game; the invention of Kurdell Stewart known as "Run/Slash/quarterback" and the "Bus" who runs into the end zone dragging every player with him. Although Mike Dikta was the first inventor in the 80's with the "Fridge" and the Bears won the Super Bowl. The "Fridge" runs in the endzone by dragging bunch of players with him for a touch down.

The Steelers ranked number 6, have beaten the number 1, number, 2, and number 3 in their their homes. They have won 7 in role.
I pick the Steelers to win Super Bowl 40 for a revived quarterback, aggressive defense, powerful fullback and uncontrollable blitz. They have proven to be unstoppable in the redzone during the playoff season. They got it all. ADVANTAGE ---->STEELERS.
