Twenty-four hours after the police attack
on its leader, Movement for Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) yesterday said it was more
than ever before committed to the realisation of an independent Biafra republic. MASSOB also alleged that the policemen
who invaded its leader, Chief Ralph Uwazuruike�s country home in Okwe, Onuimo local govenment area of Imo State,
carted away, among other items, the sum of N1.3 million raised to solve the organisation�s logistics problem. About
100 cops had raided Uwazuruike�s home apparently seeking Biafra items, such as flags, declared illegal by the Federal
Government. The MASSOB leader escaped arrest but 11 of his men were picked up. Director of information of MASSOB
Mr. Uchenna Duru, told Daily Champion that attacks by security agencies would not deter the organisation from pursuing
the Biafra cause. If nothing, he added, such onslaught had further gingered the members to show "more than
extra" determination and commitment to the Biafra cause. Condemning the attack, MASSOB described it as primitive,
observing that "there was no cause for it." Duru reiterated that MASSOB is non-violent and "no threat
